Run-Time
Imogen Heap Lyrics

Sparks might fly, in no time
It's a delayed reaction of the third kind (ooh)
I'm so ready for this
Shrink-wrapped tones, I can face the music
Stop matters bonding us way beyond
Our best by-days

You know we've had it good,
We've had it bad, so no hard feelings
We've done all we could and all again
I'm done pretending
Let's quit while we're still friends

Making up stories that grew to be too tall,
My fortress to forget couldn't take anymore
You nearly watched me ruin everything, everything!
There's a number one rule of don't-do's
Well we knew it all too well
You were supposed to be looking out for me!
Have you any idea how difficult it's been?

You know we've had it good,
We've had it bad, so no hard feelings
We've done all we could, and all again
Let's save ourselves a sorry ending
You know we've had it good, we've had it bad,
But this is as far as we can stretch
Let's stop pretending, stop pretending
And quit while we're still friends

Well I was so young, misguided maybe
But still this hands over my every pen to paper
And this all started with a song (started with a song, started with a song)
Let this be our last one
Drop, drop (bridge, bridge, bridge, bridge)

We've had it good, we've had it bad,
This is as far as we can stretch
Stop pretending!
And quit while we're still friends

I wish you well
I wish you well (I wish you well, wish you well, wish you well)

Wish you well, I wish you well, I won't tell if you won't tell
I won't hold it against you if you bow out gracefully (gracefully)
Can we just not drag this out, please?
I wish you well, I wish you well, I won't tell if you won't tell
I won't hold it against you if you bow out gracefully (do it gracefully!)
Can we just not drag this out?

All of Imogen's songs seem to have a very healing quality (including those from Frou Frou). If ever I feel depressed or am lacking creativity, I guarantee that any one of her tracks will inspire a change in one or the other or, usually, both. No one can put emotions so perfectly into music like her! Thank you Immi!

There we have it, you put to Words what i have been feeling for some time. It has to be amongst the kindest compliments one can give and recieve.

I'm on really hard days of depression and anxiety and been listening her songs, you said everything

Couldn't have said it better myself, even subconsciously, I am pulled back to Imogen when I'm in need of a creative outlet or to generally feel better.

Ewa Grabowska

Excellent comment, she's so unique and genuine at the same time.. Do you think she might be an INFJ? 🙂

Jorge Murillo

@Laura Demaude I very much agree.

This is one of THE most perfect pop songs ever crafted, Imogen Heap just so insanely talented its such a shame she doesn't get more recognition from the normal people (because a lot of musicians from all genres already love her).

The second part to this song is ridiculously amazing... the transition from one tempo to the other, with such sneaky poly-rhythmic subtleties...  finishing with such a broader dynamic than what it carried throughout the beginning of the track... just so CAREFULLY written and composed. I love you, Imogen.

My God, this woman saved my life with her music. And she's doing it again. She gives me hope. :)

I looooooove how she ends the song "I wish you well, wish you well. I won't tell if you won't tell. I won't hold it against you if you just bow out gracefully. Do it gracefully."
