In Flames Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

One of these days, I'm gonna burst into flames
It's someday soon I hope, I'm tired of the wait
Cus my whole life has gone to hell
And I might as well go to
And there I'll stand as the man in the flames
Every hour
In my home
I get wild
When left alone
Feel the sun
Strike my face
It's how I find
I missed the day
Now this voice inside my mind
Sounds nothing like my own
Beelz has called me back
Before I wreck the room
One of these days, I'm gonna burst into flames
It's someday soon I hope, I'm tired of the wait
Cus my whole life has gone to hell
And I might as well go to
And there I'll stand as the man in the flames
Thought I'd try
To run away
Given time
And change my name
Once was broke
Never poor
Gettin' coke
Never pure
Now there's pain inside my gut
Enough to knock me over
And when I close my eyes
I swear I'm hearin' colors
One of these days, I'm gonna burst into flames
It's someday soon I hope, I'm tired of the wait
Cus my whole life has gone to hell
And I might as well go to
And there I'll stand as the man in the flames

There I'll stand as the man in the flames
There I'll stand, the man in the flames

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to In Flames’s song “In Flames” convey a sense of hopelessness and despair. The singer expresses a desire to escape his current state of being, describing how his life has gone to hell and how he feels wild and alone at home. He also mentions hearing a voice inside his head that sounds nothing like his own and references the devil, Beelz, calling him back before he wrecks the room.

The chorus “One of these days, I’m gonna burst into flames, it’s someday soon I hope, I’m tired of the wait” suggests that the singer is anticipating some sort of dramatic transformation or release from his current situation. The image of bursting into flames could symbolize a desire to burn away everything that is holding him back or preventing him from feeling alive.

The second verse continues this theme of longing for change, with the singer describing how he once was broke but now feels pain inside his gut and hears colors when he closes his eyes. The repeated chorus serves to emphasize the sense of urgency and restlessness that the singer feels.

Overall, the lyrics to “In Flames” speak to a universal desire for transformation and release from the constraints of daily life. The image of bursting into flames might be seen as a metaphor for the intensity of this longing and the need for radical change.

Half of the album is great (prereleased songs with music videos + Bleeding Out, Dialogue in B-Flat Minor for example), and the other half of the album is just forgettable filler. You can't change my mind and there's no defending this. One of the songs starts like Bottled kind of, lol.

I, the Mask was better overall, but the listed songs bail this album out. They did pull in the effort to make some aggressive and fast songs like in the good old days. Bleeding Out should have opened the album tbh.

I loved every album of In Flames except the Lunar Strain and even find value in the albums most people hate to this day and often listen through all of them so you could call me a big-time fan, but I do not see myself listening to half of this album after the initial looping of it the entire day when I got the leak (1 day before official release). I'll just play the favorites (which are truly GREAT by the way and excel above the best songs from previous few albums).

Did they just... run out of inspiration half-way or something?

I love that too! But don't like that the feeling not going through the whole album. :(

@Tamás Sütő Word. After the reviews I hoped for a much more "jesterracey" vibe.
