Deliver Us
In Flames Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Remind me I'm golden
The fortress above the sun
Why don't you spend nowhere with me?
Follow the river and the path of the ones trying the names

Of the shore

Forever I can't find
Struggling in a world of this fine
Or this life
I don't want it to be
I'm not in to live

Fly into the distance
Disappear for a while
I don't know the sence of this
But it is too late feeling alive

Destruction for the power
Let me take control (Eliminance)

This is nothing more
Something now you'll find again (Deliver us)
Can't live the worse, you say?

Does it really matter?
I'd give the world to you if you just

Fly into the distance
Disappear for a while
I can't make sense of this
Are we there to take a ride?

Fly into the distance
Disappear for a while

I can't make sense of this
But we're in to take a ride

Overall Meaning

The opening lines of In Flame's "Deliver Us" are a plea for comfort and acknowledgement of self-worth. The phrase "remind me I'm golden" suggests that the singer needs to be reminded of their value and worth, almost like a self-affirmation. This is followed by the image of a "fortress above the sun," which could represent a sort of dream world or a place of comfort and escape from reality. The following line, "why don't you spend nowhere with me?" could be interpreted in a couple of ways. On one sense it implies a sense of loneliness and a desire for companionship or a need to break free from isolation. It could also mean that the singer is asking for someone to truly disconnect from their environment and join them in this place amoungst nothingness, creating a deeper level of connection.

The second verse begins with the singer acknowledging that they feel lost and hopeless in the world they inhabit. They describe their world as "struggling in a world of this fine," perhaps indicating that the world is fine on the surface -- nothing seems particularly wrong or particularly right about it, but there's a sense of unease and aimlessness beneath the surface. In the next line, "or this life, I don't want it to be, I'm not in to live," the singer expresses a desire to escape this world, or at least find a greater sense of purpose within it. The remainder of the song seems to explore this idea of escapism and the search for meaning.
