I guess that is their idea, but doing that is going to upset the fans or even push them away if that hasn't happened allready. I can also understand wanting to make something else once in a while so experimenting is fine, but doing a 180 where the genre is concerned is another matter alltogether. Btw isn't that what side projects are for?

Jonas Wijte Yeah but I dont think they realize despite the fans whinning that they are doing shitty music nowadays, like literally last time I saw them Anders started the live saying " We dont give a fuck what you think about our music lets just have fun " like they are going straight down with their new weird shit ass music. whatever he knows he cant sing like he used to, so they simply choose the easiest way; giving their band to sell-out and make money for the cost of their fans, thats very sad. In a certain way I can understand that they've been playing the same music style for 20 years and they are bored enough to loose the passion for the melodeath genre but giving theirself so brutally.. idk

I guess thats a valid reason, but as a band not being able to play your best material live while not much new good stuff comes in is kinda sad. It's cool that they did Jester's Dance, since that's a instumental, but then why only play that and not say Dialogue with the Stars as well?
In my opinion they either have to get rid of Anders (sadly) or they are probably going to spiral evermore downward. That is something really unfortunate since they used to be one of my favorite bands in the metal genre.

Indeed! Jesper actually commented on an interview (Metal Maniacs Magazine) that it was inspired by Annihilator (which I believe was the "Set the world on fire" album). He said also that at the end, the final result had more like an Iron Maiden feel, heheheh
