In Grey Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴

Did you know, did you feel
Or was I the only one
Did you know, did you feel
This time I won't go back

I feel it comming
Once again closing in on me
I feel it comming
Closing in on me once aga

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Once Again" speak to the experience of being stuck in a cycle of feeling trapped and unable to move forward, either in a relationship or in life in general. The singer is questioning whether their partner or loved one felt the same way as they did, or if they were alone in their feelings. They assert that this time, they won't go back to the same old patterns.

The chorus, "I feel it coming, once again closing in on me" paints a picture of impending doom, as if the singer can sense that they're about to be stuck in the same cycle yet again. The repetition of "once again" throughout the song emphasizes the cyclical nature of the situation.

Overall, the song seems to be grappling with the struggle of breaking free from negative patterns and moving towards true growth and progress.

The Alpha was no different to him.

Both knew what they were doing and knew how to lead.

Both were standing at the end and neither could leave things as they were.

Tragically poetic but I think they both would have fought eachother to the point both died. Maybe after some suspenseful fighting and Both dealing damage...the wolf finally pounces tearing into his throat but he has just enough strength to drill that knife repeatedly into the wolf's throat.

Both stare eachother in the eyes as they draw their final breath, neither one kneeling before the other in the end.

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

I believe this movie depicts the wolves as a form of fear. Everytime the men are about to die they claim what their fears are, Diaz with not having anyone to go back to, the other men with heights, loneliness, death itself. Ottway on the other hand is different. Yes he acknowledges his fears, when around the campfire saying, I am afraid to death, but i will keep going. The wolfs are symbolic towards fear as, fear will follow us throughout our whole lives, always tailing us, making us fear for our lives, trying to survive from this being that is just inside our minds and no one else can see. Alone in a barren wasteland, the Arctic as you could say. I believe Ottways wife is a symbol of god. Giving him hope, telling him not to be afraid as religion is a huge strengthening booster for those that dont know where to go. Remember friends. Life is tough, but that does not mean you should go out not fighting. Once more into the fray

She's not god, she's the human he loved most. The message of this film is there is no god and we have to take care of ourselves.

This is beautifully put

Fear is a choice , you can learn to control it . People lash out on others out of fear of what they can't control

Really interesting analysis. No matter what one's opinion of this movie, it stays with you. Fantastic ending.

Well said. Fear is always the enemy. Right now it is the fear of covid that the masses allow to be a kind of fear inside themselves, to where they avoid any battle into the frey at all, not even one that's not a threat to them. They fear death to where they want the institutions of man to decide the remedy for their life. They curl up in a ball to be quarantined from living and wait for the next protocol decision to save them from death. That is all backwards. "For he who loves his life shall lose it but he who loses his life for my sake shall find it" Once more in to the frey.

Definitely one of the best metaphors you can take from a movie,
Life has you backed into a corner, has you on your knees, you can either die there or fight knowing your going to probably die anyway.

Thomas Norton-Crossman

criminally underated film

Absolutely no joke. I am moved every time.
