Leaving Forever
In Her Own Words Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
I think I'm leaving for good this time
Gotta get out of this weather
I know I say this shit all the time
So unfinished, been a minute since it felt right
Head is spinning, but I still remember that night
All this talk like you remember who I was back then again
And never knew I put a wall up to protect me
Another day, another reason to accept this is the end
I think I'm leaving forever
I think I'm leaving for good this time
Gotta get out of this weather
I know I say this shit all the time
We're in between, I know some things
Are better left unsaid
Yeah, I'm leaving forever
I think I'm leaving forever
What's the point if we're not moving any faster?
You pull me under, now we're stuck in a disaster
Don't you know it's hard to grow without the laughter in the end?
Took the fall I had, the higher ground
There's nothing left to write about now
Miscommunication broke me from the inside out
I think I'm leaving forever
I think I'm leaving for good this time
Gotta get out of this weather
I know I say this shit all the time
We're in between, I know some things
Are better left unsaid
Yeah, I'm leaving forever
I think I'm leaving forever
Overrun, misconnection
What's said is done, no reflection
Overrun, misconnection
What's said is done, no reflection
I think I'm leaving forever
I think I'm leaving for good this time
Gotta get out of this weather
I know I say this shit all the time
I think I'm leaving forever
I think I'm leaving for good this time
Gotta get out of this weather
I know I say this shit all the time
We're in between, I know some things
Are better left unsaid
Yeah, I'm leaving forever
I think I'm leaving forever
In the lyrics of In Her Own Words's "Leaving Forever," the singer expresses a strong desire to leave a situation behind, likely a relationship or a certain phase in their life. The repetition of the phrase "I think I'm leaving forever" emphasizes the uncertainty and inner conflict the singer is experiencing. They acknowledge that they have spoken about leaving before but now feel a deeper conviction that it's time to go for good.
The lyrics convey a sense of feeling stuck and unfulfilled, with the singer reflecting on past events that didn't feel right. They mention a specific night that is still vivid in their memory, suggesting that certain moments have had a lasting impact on them. The reference to putting up walls to protect themselves indicates a sense of vulnerability and a need for self-preservation in the face of emotional challenges.
The song also touches on themes of communication breakdown and the difficulty of moving forward without mutual understanding and laughter. The lyrics suggest a sense of frustration and disappointment in the lack of progress and growth within the relationship or situation. The singer seems to feel overwhelmed by the weight of unresolved issues and a sense of disconnect that has ultimately led them to the decision to leave.
The repeated refrain of "I think I'm leaving forever" reinforces the finality of the decision and a desire for a fresh start. The mention of misconnection and the absence of reflection hint at a lack of closure or resolution in the situation. Overall, the lyrics of "Leaving Forever" capture a mix of introspection, uncertainty, and a longing for change, as the singer grapples with the complexities of letting go and moving on from a challenging situation.
