Salvation
In Strict Confidence Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And the word was god
Seven days he spent creating
Land and seas, men and beasts
What come through him was life -
The light of the human race
The light that shines in the darkest nights
And the word became flesh
To dwell under the sun
A saviour was sent ti us:
The father's only son
From fullness we have all received
His grace in place of grace
Received a hope for human race
Hear the message of the prophet:
Soon we'll find salvation!
Light has come into the world
To save the whole creation
I say to you, that you will see
The sky is open wide
And angels are ascending down
To wander by your side
The lyrics to In Strict Confidence's song "Salvation" speak to the idea of the divine and the redemption of the human race. The opening lines allude to the creation story in the book of Genesis, setting the tone for a song that deals with religious themes. The emphasis on the word as god highlights the idea of the power of language and its ability to create and shape our reality, an idea that is central to many religious traditions. The seven days of creation are mentioned, underscoring the importance of this story within Christian mythology.
The second verse speaks to the role of Jesus as a savior for humanity, with lines like "The light that shines in the darkest nights" and "To save the whole creation" emphasizing his power and significance. The idea of grace is also mentioned, emphasizing that salvation is a gift from God that we must accept in order to be saved. The message of the prophet, which is referenced in the final verse, speaks to the hope of salvation and the idea that we will one day see the divine in all its glory.
