Incubus is a five-man alternative rock band formed in 1991, based in Calabasas, California. Members include Brandon Boyd (vocals and percussion), Mike Einziger (guitar), Ben Kenney (bass), Jose Pasillas II (drums) and DJ Chris Kilmore (turntables). Former members of the band include Gavin Koppel (a.k.a. DJ Lyfe) (turntables) and Alex Katunich (a.k.a. Dirk Lance) (bass). The band's name may seem a peculiar choice to fans, as an incubus is a type of demon that, in mythological lore, comes in the night and has sex with women while they are sleeping; it seduces them in their dreams The story behind the name is that the band needed to think of a name hours before their first show and, after a few failed choices, Mike looked in a dictionary and chose "Incubus" almost at random. Mike says that the name was chosen because it sounded silly; Brandon holds that it was chosen because they were teenagers and the definition had the word "sex" in it. "We really didn't want to rape women in their sleep. But, we were fifteen and it seemed harmless to us then, and we never changed it," says the band.

Incubus has received both critical acclaim and commercial success, reaching multi-platinum sales, as well as releasing several successful singles. The band earned mainstream recognition with the release of their 1999 album Make Yourself. In 2001, Incubus became even more successful with the single "Drive" and their follow-up album Morning View. Their sixth studio album, Light Grenades, debuted at No. 1 in 2006 and has received Gold certification in the U.S. Incubus released their first greatest hits album Monuments and Melodies in June 2009, accompanied by a tour of the United States, Japan and Canada. The band's most recent album, 8, was released on April 21st, 2017.

This song is about taking control of your life and making it awesome. A certain shade of green in my opinion can be interpreted in a number of ways both literally and metaphorically. In a sense he's saying quit waiting for everything to be perfect and exactly as you envisioned. Seize the day now instead of making excuses. Go and live your dreams now without excuse. AYVSO Sucks? I respect your opinion, but I'd like to think Morning View is a pretty good early 2000s alternative album. Incubus went from a really sick funk rock/alternative metal band, to a pretty cool alternative rock band. I'm not too keen on anything past Light Grenades (2006), but given that every album they made after Fungus Amongus varies in style/is very different from their previous albums, Morning View is different and well done in its own right :) It's more so calming and ethereal. It's a great album for a chill day.

Grew up on this shit. I remember before Incubus got huge this album was already receiving praise and recognition by many! Love these dudes. Glad to see they have evolved but this is my favorite LP hands down. Hometown heroes.

Saw you guys live twice, f*cking incredible. The first time was especially memorable, I drove from Pittsburgh to Virginia Beach for the show, bought lawn tickets because I enjoy walking around during shows and it rained that day so they CLOSED the lawn section and crammed hundreds of us behind the main seats under the roof, heard Young the Giant play but didn't see them, I was about to give it up and go back to the hotel, I asked my girlfriend what she thought, she said let's wait. Not 5 minutes later your photographer (I had no idea initially) approached me and struck up a conversation, after he heard I drove 10 hours to see you guys he literally pulled out two pit passes and gave them to me, said you guys gave him some and had him hand them out, I was beyond grateful, went and got my wrist band and saw you guys from 15 feet away, insane show, you guys sound so good live, thanks for hooking me up and saving my first Incubus show! i have written this on several incubus videos across youtube, so if the name and comment sound familiar i apologize, but i will say it again. Incubus between 1997 - 2004
( SCIENCE, Make yourself, Morning View, and a Crow Left of the Murder, )

@Ishi White This was my introduction to Incubus. Then they discovered that they could write mellower, more radio friendly music and for me, it wasn't nearly as interesting or enjoyable. Morning View was my end point. Yes, the best bands adapt and change, they don't just release the same album over and over again but I truly miss this era of Incubus. The more recent stuff doesn't move me or excite me like SCIENCE did, and still does.

@@ghendar I won’t lie I listen to this stuff & fungus more than morning view (they seem like less sneaky albums) but I am glad for them they aren’t on hyper spun doing crystal meth commercials anymore. I’ve had so many people “stand up” for this song to me before as an “anti-pot” song or something 😂. Try some weak angel dust before a rave and get back to me on what a certain shade green means.

Acho que o negócio nem é isso é que quando conhecem só conhecem as mais pops como Stellar ou Dig, nada contra eu amo as duas músicas pra caramba mas os álbuns antigos deles principalmente o Science é uma obra prima.

I remember seeing Incubus twice in one week when they opened for 311 back before they were really famous. One of the shows was at UMASS Amherst and my friends and I had stayed overnight and the morning after the show we went to Ihop before heading home....Incubus was there eating...we had enjoyed them at the show but had no idea who they were before that...so we just waved and said hi. I love those kinds of experiences.
