Incubus is a five-man alternative rock band formed in 1991, based in Calabasas, California. Members include Brandon Boyd (vocals and percussion), Mike Einziger (guitar), Ben Kenney (bass), Jose Pasillas II (drums) and DJ Chris Kilmore (turntables). Former members of the band include Gavin Koppel (a.k.a. DJ Lyfe) (turntables) and Alex Katunich (a.k.a. Dirk Lance) (bass). The band's name may seem a peculiar choice to fans, as an incubus is a type of demon that, in mythological lore, comes in the night and has sex with women while they are sleeping; it seduces them in their dreams The story behind the name is that the band needed to think of a name hours before their first show and, after a few failed choices, Mike looked in a dictionary and chose "Incubus" almost at random. Mike says that the name was chosen because it sounded silly; Brandon holds that it was chosen because they were teenagers and the definition had the word "sex" in it. "We really didn't want to rape women in their sleep. But, we were fifteen and it seemed harmless to us then, and we never changed it," says the band.
Incubus has received both critical acclaim and commercial success, reaching multi-platinum sales, as well as releasing several successful singles. The band earned mainstream recognition with the release of their 1999 album Make Yourself. In 2001, Incubus became even more successful with the single "Drive" and their follow-up album Morning View. Their sixth studio album, Light Grenades, debuted at No. 1 in 2006 and has received Gold certification in the U.S. Incubus released their first greatest hits album Monuments and Melodies in June 2009, accompanied by a tour of the United States, Japan and Canada. The band's most recent album, 8, was released on April 21st, 2017.

Earth To Bella Part 1
Incubus Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You think you've got it all figured in
Earth to Bella
Everything you know is wrong, well almost
Earth to Bella
I see where you are not listening
I bear the burden
And before you swim you've gotta be okay to sing
Earth to Bella
The world can be an unfriendly place
So hold your head up (hold your head up)
And do your best to save some face, it's not so hard
Just undo yourself and see your second son escape
Okay to sing
I'm okay to sing
Okay to sing
Okay to sing
The lyrics of Incubus's song Earth to Bella Part 1 are a call to someone who is not paying attention to the reality of the world. The chorus "Earth to Bella" is a way of getting the person's attention and bringing them back to reality. The lyrics suggest that the person is living in a delusion and thinks they have everything figured out. However, the reality is that everything they know is wrong, or at least not completely accurate. The singer of the song says that they bear the burden of being the voice that reminds the person that we all grow old and that there are consequences to our actions.
The song goes on to suggest that the world can be an unfriendly place, and that it's important to hold your head up and do your best to save some face. The lyrics encourage the person to "undo yourself" and see their "second son escape." This could mean that the person needs to let go of their current beliefs and start fresh, perhaps with a new perspective or attitude. The repeated line "Okay to sing" suggests that it's important to express oneself and not be afraid to speak up or be heard.
Overall, the lyrics of Earth to Bella Part 1 are a call to action for someone who's living in a delusion and not paying attention to the reality of the world. The song encourages the person to open their eyes, let go of their current beliefs, and to express themselves freely.
