Incubus is a five-man alternative rock band formed in 1991, based in Calabasas, California. Members include Brandon Boyd (vocals and percussion), Mike Einziger (guitar), Ben Kenney (bass), Jose Pasillas II (drums) and DJ Chris Kilmore (turntables). Former members of the band include Gavin Koppel (a.k.a. DJ Lyfe) (turntables) and Alex Katunich (a.k.a. Dirk Lance) (bass). The band's name may seem a peculiar choice to fans, as an incubus is a type of demon that, in mythological lore, comes in the night and has sex with women while they are sleeping; it seduces them in their dreams The story behind the name is that the band needed to think of a name hours before their first show and, after a few failed choices, Mike looked in a dictionary and chose "Incubus" almost at random. Mike says that the name was chosen because it sounded silly; Brandon holds that it was chosen because they were teenagers and the definition had the word "sex" in it. "We really didn't want to rape women in their sleep. But, we were fifteen and it seemed harmless to us then, and we never changed it," says the band.
Incubus has received both critical acclaim and commercial success, reaching multi-platinum sales, as well as releasing several successful singles. The band earned mainstream recognition with the release of their 1999 album Make Yourself. In 2001, Incubus became even more successful with the single "Drive" and their follow-up album Morning View. Their sixth studio album, Light Grenades, debuted at No. 1 in 2006 and has received Gold certification in the U.S. Incubus released their first greatest hits album Monuments and Melodies in June 2009, accompanied by a tour of the United States, Japan and Canada. The band's most recent album, 8, was released on April 21st, 2017.
2. A death/thrash metal band from Metairie, Louisiana. The band was made up of Francis Howard (guitar/vocals), Moyses Howard (drums), Andre Luiz (bass), and Luiz Carlos (guitar). 3. A death/thrash metal band from Georgia who released one demo in 1987. The drummer, Mike Browning, went on to Morbid Angel and later Nocturnus fame.
4. A thrash metal band from São Paulo, Brazil that released 2 demos in 1986 and 1988.

Take Me to Your Leader

Unexpectedly and suddenly,
Picked out things to flip around
And view a lot differently?
What if blue sky,
All of a sudden turned a purple hue?
We would shit a brick the size of all of it
What if I was just daydreaming?
What if I lived in a pear?
What if my watch read 4:20 every hour, every day?
You can bet your dollar I'd be happy!
I forgot to remember,
I forgot to remember my pain.
Take me to your leader
Or die by the fly guy!
What if mothballs,
Hangin' around too close to microwaves
Suddenly woke up and said,
"Take me to your leader
Or die by fly guy!
He'll push ya' out,
No wings attached!"
Just do as I say, no mistake,
He'll blow away.
What if I was daydreaming?
What if I lived in a pear?
What if I had a mustard drenched cucumber
Tied to my leg and I
Did not want my pants to get dirty?
What if this, what if that?!
Go! I forgot to remember
I forgot to remember my pain. Take me to your leader
Or die by the fly guy!
I forgot to remember my, pain!
My pain!
Forgot to inject my, cocaine!
Forgot to apply my, rogaine!
Forgot to remember, my pain!
I never think, I never thought,
Oh maybe I'm insane!
I think I like being
Way the fuck out of my brain!
I forgot to remember,
I forgot to remember my pain.
Take me to your leader
Or die by the fly guy!
The lyrics to Incubus's song "Take Me to Your Leader" are a whimsical exploration of what it would be like to experience reality in a different way. The first verse asks the listener to imagine what it would be like if their brain suddenly began to perceive things differently, using the example of the sky turning purple instead of blue. The chorus then repeats the phrase "take me to your leader", which is typically used in science fiction stories where an alien needs to be taken to a human leader. In this context, it's unclear if the singer is asking to meet an actual alien leader or if they're just being metaphorical.
The second verse continues the theme of fantastical scenarios, including living inside a pear and having a watch that always reads 4:20. The chorus repeats once again, this time with the addition of the phrase "or die by the fly guy!" The bridge of the song includes a list of things the singer has forgotten to do, including remembering their pain, injecting cocaine, and applying Rogaine. The final repetition of the chorus is preceded by the line "I think I like being way the fuck out of my brain," suggesting that the singer is intentionally living in a state of altered consciousness.
