I Am Haunted
Indians Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I walked tonight, it's not too late
To see the light at your face
I think the wall up today
So you can see this wide again
Up and go, yes we are
Hope your pain will soon be gone
A little wait, a little late
But to go home with me
Walking home, let it be
Walked away it took a while
It's too late to walk away
Watch the hours easy come
Girl, I'm haunted

Lots of fun, in and out
Come to me don't walk too far
You took away the spring in March
You slipped away, you will be watched
Slip away from my heart
Hit the wall in my arms,
Girl, I'm haunted

But girl you'll be fine

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of the song 'I Am Haunted' by Indians, seems to be written in a narrative form depicting a man's journey to meet his lover or someone he cares deeply about. The opening lines, "I walked tonight, it's not too late, To see the light at your face, I think the wall up today, So you can see this wide again" seems to refer to him going to visit the person, but there seems to be a wall between them that he wants to break, to let them see the world again.

The chorus, "Up and go, yes, we are, Hope your pain will soon be gone, A little wait, a little late, But to go home with me, Walking home, let it be, Walked away it took a while, It's too late to walk away" seems to show his compassion for the person's pain and his desire to take them home with him. The phrase "It's too late to walk away" may indicate that he has been waiting for a long time for the person to come around, but they have finally done so; he is willing to wait patiently for them.

The second stanza seems to be a plea to the person, with lines such as "Come to me don't walk too far" and "Slip away from my heart". The phrase "You took away the spring in March, You slipped away, you will be watched" may indicate that the person had gone through a difficult period of life, and he wants her to know that he is watching and he cares about her. The constant repetition of the line "Girl, I'm haunted" could refer to his haunted heart, the pain he's gone through or the loneliness of waiting for so long.
