But the real beginning was the song "Drogi" which appeared two years later on "Part One". It was Gutek's first album and Banach's tenth but in many ways his first as he recorded it in a way he had never before.
In 2002 a decision about making the second record was made. The first meeting after couple of years took place in much nicer surroundings - somewhere half way between Szczecin and Koszalin in the attic of the house, boarding with the forest, first song for the new album - "Mental Revolution" was born. Later "The Sign" and "The Sun" were polished although Banach got the idea for those two while in Greece.
It's a very cosmopolitan record - two Poles under Spanish-sounding name, recording Jamaican music, ideas of which were first born in France, Greece and Japan. Even if we try to place Indios Bravos' music somewhere in Poland it proofs to be very difficult. Gutek was born, grew-up and lives in Katowice. Banach on the other hand is from Szczecin and lives in Warsaw. Szczecin is also home of the musicians who make Indios Bravos - the live band because from October 2002 Indios Bravos is not just a studio project but a full band set.
The first gig was very humble. Gutek and Banach were supported on stage by Pawel Gawronski (keboard and backing vocals) and Krzysztof Sak (guitar). Later the band expanded and was joined by Ryszard Labul (bass), Przemek Filipkowski (keyboard) and Tomek Kubik (drums).
Łatwo / Nie łatwo
Indios Bravos Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
The lyrics of Indios Bravos's song "Łatwo / Nie łatwo" explore the complexity of staying true to oneself in a world where external pressures and expectations often push individuals to compromise their values and beliefs. The opening lines convey the idea that it is easy to speak the truth when there is no need to lie, and when one is not being coerced or manipulated. In such circumstances, it is easier to maintain one's integrity and not sell out. The lyrics highlight the notion that it is simpler to be steadfast and uncompromising when no one is pressuring you to do otherwise. It is also easier to feel like a hero when times are safe and secure, emphasizing the contrast between idealism and reality.
The repetition of the phrase "Łatwo jest tak łatwo jest" reinforces the idea that staying true to oneself in favorable conditions is uncomplicated, almost effortless. However, the tone shifts as the lyrics challenge the listener to be courageous when others are faltering and to laugh out loud when faced with ridicule. The lyrics urge the listener to share bread with others in times of hardship and to act with reason even when love seems absent. This part of the song suggests that it is not easy to be brave, to be different, to be generous, or to love unconditionally in the face of adversity.
The subsequent repetition of "Nie łatwo jest nie łatwo jest" underscores the idea that maintaining one's integrity and values in challenging circumstances is far from simple. The lyrics highlight the struggles and difficulties that come with being brave, standing out, helping others in need, and making rational decisions when faced with adversity and obstacles. The contrast between the ease of staying true to oneself in favorable circumstances and the challenges faced when maintaining integrity in difficult situations is a central theme in the song. The repetition serves to drive home the message that staying true to oneself and one's values is a continuous and often arduous journey.
In conclusion, the lyrics of "Łatwo / Nie łatwo" by Indios Bravos serve as a reflection on the complexities of remaining authentic and principled in a world that often demands compromise and conformity. The song encourages listeners to be courageous, to stand by their principles even in the face of adversity, and to extend kindness and reason to others. It emphasizes the importance of staying true to oneself and one's values, even when doing so is challenging. Through its poignant lyrics and evocative repetition, the song compels listeners to reflect on the difficulty of maintaining integrity in a world that often values conformity over individuality.
