Heart Of Lilith
Inkubus Sukkubus Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

She has come from the shadows of the dream world
A dark angel from the darker side of love
Across a sea of tears
A hundred thousand years
Come with her and dance in the moon light
And you are lost to this world evermore
Put your hand in her hand
Come and fly now with the angels
Rise again now like the phoenix
Your the love that lives forever
In the heart that never dies, never dies
Heart of Lilith!

Come and drown in the lake of her passion
Come and die so you can be reborn
Hear the siren sing
Hear the death knell ring
She's a witch a siren and a vampyre
She has come from the distance stars
To take your heart
To break your heart

Come and fly now with the angels
Rise again now like the phoenix
Your the love that lives forever
In the heart that never dies, never dies
Heart of Lilith!

Come and kiss, kiss the lips of Lilith
Come and kiss and you will be no more
Feel the fire
Of desire

Come and fly now with the angels
Rise again now like the phoenix
Your the love that lives forever
In the heart that never dies, never dies
Heart of Lilith!

Come and fly now with the angels
Rise again now like the phoenix
Your the love that lives forever

In the heart that never dies, never dies
Heart of Lilith!

Overall Meaning

"Heart of Lilith" is a song by the British gothic rock band, Inkubus Sukkubus. The song is an ode to Lilith, the ancient goddess of love, lust, and freedom. The lyrics celebrate Lilith's dark and sensual qualities, and the song's haunting melody sets an otherworldly tone fitting for the realm of dreams and the supernatural.

The first stanza paints the picture of Lilith as a dark angel who comes from the shadows of the dream world, crossing a sea of tears to bring her lovers into her realm of the moonlight. The second stanza suggests that by surrendering to Lilith's passion, one can be reborn like a phoenix, living forever in the heart that never dies. The final stanza presents an almost ominous warning that those who kiss the lips of Lilith will be no more; a statement that reinforces the belief that Lilith is a powerful and dangerous goddess.

Overall, the lyrics convey the idea that Lilith is a symbol of sexuality and female empowerment, and Inkubus Sukkubus portrays her as an alluring and otherworldly entity that can bring new life to those who surrender to her charms, but also has the power to destroy those who cannot handle her power.

@J.7.1

I love this band's songs. They move me. Darkly hypnotic and enchantingly energized.

@99EbonyRose

Lilith is an archetype for the darker aspects of the female emotions and attitudes and probably encompasses the female characteristics that (usually christian) men feared - intuition, introspective exploration, empathic connections with others, etc........just my 2cents ;-)

@lipsonjonathan211

Isis, Astarte, Diana, Inana, Kali, all are aspects of one G-D. Multifaceted and all are male?

Hail Satan

@tante_kringe

@@lipsonjonathan211 male and female goddesses don’t exist. They’re both and neither. God(ess) encompasses all, and all are different facet of God itself. It’s so much deeper than that and to claim it all as male is just straight up ignoring God and choosing your own ego.

@serenitymclean
