He enlisted the talent of Chicago native Paris Grey to perform vocals for the tracks on what would become some of the most memorable club anthems all time, beginning with 1988's smash hit "Big Fun."

Inner City's debut album, also entitled "Big Fun" (Virgin Records, US) / "Paradise" (elsewhere) was released in 1989. The second single from the debut LP was the smash hit "Good Life," which has become one of Inner City's most memorable tracks gaining major airplay on MTV and peaking at #4 on the UK charts. The debut album also spawned a few other club hits such as "Do You Love What You Feel" and "Ain't Nobody Better."

Kevin Saunderson went on to release three more albums under the Inner City name: 1990's "Fire," 1992's "Praise," and 1993's "Testament," which all yielded successful singles but could not match the chart-topping "Big Fun" and "Good Life."

Brief 1st person history lesson @JuergenGDB : House was Chicago DJ's response to the 70's Disco scene being violently forced underground from mainstream 'elements' threatened by its gay/racial/gender equality vibe. But it was a club centered, DJ oriented sample heavy method, stripped of most analogue instruments and vocals, with a slow, deep throbbing beat and sparse high notes. Detroit techno started with that foundation nearly a decade later, but sped up the tempo along with more use of synthesizers/sound effects and forefront vocal lyrics, the true "Neo-Disco". I remember going to Detroit's "Basement" (The Shelter), getting on Michigan Avenue which went through Ann Arbor stopping at "The Attic" before resuming the next day through Chicago's South Side (when the Cabrini Green projects still stood) to get to their local clubs including the Warehouse. <3 My club days mostly tanked moving to Cleveland, OH in the 90's because there's ZERO club culture; it was actually faster (and WAY safer!) to drive to Toronto, ON then onward to Montreal, especially when popular Chicago/Detroit clubs were in the most dangerous neighborhoods north of the Mexican border. 😕

+Street Hierarchy all the club music of that era was positive,,,,there were positive years,,,,if somebody here play some instrument, notice the chords of the song (Bm F#m Am Em) are all minor chords, but the melody and the sound is mind-opening and positive (I think Kevin Saunderson, the writer , knew a thing or two about composing)- I was playing the chords with the guitar and it remembers something Latin-flamenco,,and this is why I consider this genre a blend of House and Techno- The great discover of that era were the special use of synths, pressing one key of the keyboard, you can have a chord, (sampled, probably) and that's how they made the main riff of the song,,,,uh,,,didnt want to spoil the magic,,,its just that I really love art and human brilliant inventions

Dam..walking into the club..find a sister and shake it up! No pretentious attitude,no masks just grooving and good vibes.I'd wind up dancing with the same sister for like 5 songs the DJ mixed before we even exchanged names! Dancing was the best introduction in those days..it still is.depending on where you're at and the song playing at the time..I'm telling you.get your passport and hit up clubs overseas! Its like being in the Early 90s and 80s again!!!

Man this was such a uplifting track.I first heard it while stationed in Germany in the mid 80's. Boy that was a freakin great time in life that hole British acid jazz movement. They talk about music movements today i don't think so. I'll take the Good Life any day.

There were no original music movements after the 1980's. Everything else that has gone since, no matter which genre - dance / rock / pop etc, is a combination of things that were invented up to that time.

I will always forever associate the Magic Juan mix with the day I experienced full on sexual arousal, November 4, 1995; I was 6 years old and watching Saturday morning cartoons, and that's all you need to know. My neighbor played the Magic Juan mix that day. The original version (aka this) doesn't remind me of that day, though.
