Innosphere is pianist/producer/composer/deejay Kenny Keys, who music fans will recognize from his work with Eulorhythmics, Prime Meridian, Rita J., and All Natural; and vocalist Nina Rae, a singer with an old-school jazz and blues background who has also shared stages with the likes of Common and Q-Tip. I know I'm late to the party, but I wanted to take the time to thank Baradul for posting these.

I've been a life long 'mech head and just started playing MW5 (currently lvl 4). These vids really helped get my head around the mechanics and various builds.

Hunting down random variants is super fun, almost like Pokemon. Sold my starter Jenner for an Assassin and haven't looked back.

I got my hands on the Dragon-FANG Hero Mech last night.

Equipped it as follows:
Medium Rifle
Medium laser
Large Chem Laser
SRM 6
3 heatsinks (2 in engine hs slots)
Ammo for everything to fill out the tonnage.

It's significantly scarier than other variants. Not surprised you skipped over that Dragon in the beginning of the video lol

I love the Hunchback 4P. The damn thing packs more direct firepower than almost every other medium mech. Plus it's cheap to build and maintain. You get an abundance of Medium lasers and single heatsinks from salvage, and t runs beautifully with basic components. Fantastic mech for AI, especially if you're gonna be drop tonnage hoarding for Assault mechs in early to mid game.

All the Hunchbacks are powerful in their own ways. Don't like the single shoulder reliance? Switch to a 4s? Sp? late game and get identical side torsos with SRMs and lasers. One of the best designed chassis ever

I would imagine the techs are squaring off damaged and compromised armor plating for replacement from the dropship's stores. It a thing done today with real life ships dealing with superstructure and hull damage.

Lol, is that why it takes so long? I would think they would design mech armor to be pretty modular and easily replaceable, but you can take nothing but minor armor damage in a heavy or assault mech and it will take 20-30 DAYS to repair. Someone is definitely screwing around

@@barahng Keep in mind, in Battletech, you have access to the Argo, which comes equipped with Star League-era BattleMech facilities (even if it takes some work and repairs to actually get them fully operational again, it's still Star League-era facilities), but in MW5, you only have the facilities available to you that are aboard the Leopard itself. The Leopard's facilities are certainly serviceable, but compared to the Argo's facilities, they would be pretty bare-bones. Keep in mind, in MW5 you lose your planet-side base when Black Inferno attacks you during the tutorial, and by extension that also costs your merc outfit access to whatever maintenance and refit facilities they may have had at their base.

This is what got me into MWO on my Bro's PC a few years back. I couldn't find my rhythm and/or my Mech. The 1st Mech I tried was a Med Mech with a shield on his shoulder, still wasn't it for me, then he told me to try the Hunchback. Saw some improvements and it was enough to keep me focused. They released the Heroes or Champions for the HB I bought em. Still didn't find my groove yet till he told me to use the Artemis Streaks.

I fell in love with the game after that. I wasn't a gun, melee or a laser but them Streaks boy once I saw you I was dealing serious damage or taking you out. There was a game where I got 7 kills and that was my personal best. Had to give it up cause my Bro moved back home. Good times. Now that MW5 is on consoles and has improved since DLC 2, I can finally get into this and it's in Gamepass. Can't wait to get the Series X, this is one of the games I'm getting it for!

the chaos march (the area around terra) has the best setup for farming heavies and assaults, also they are more likely to have sldf variants availeable on terra (since it is owned by comstar) same is true for weapons and equipment

more to do with weapon groups as of hotis dlc, but yes that is default behavior, still running 2,3 or 4 slot as support works fine if you group their weapons correctly (long range in group1 and 2 and your medium lasers (it is allways them) in group 3 and 4

Bara I think the Lance slot dictates behavior. The second slot should be a brawler, 4th slot long-range. So putting for example a treb or blackjack in slot two not ideal as they run in like leroy

it is actually dependent on weapon groupings
so for a long range lrm build you want your missiles in group 1 and 2 and your mediums in group 3 and 4

@@tangman9890 So far as I've noticed, the AI will prioritize using weapon groups in descending order, trying to close to range of weapon group 1 to engage. So if you want them staying at range, put longer range weapons in lower-numbered groups. The caveat is that I think it also affects frequency of use in the same order. So prioritizing long-range, slow-cooldown weapons will cause a mech to suffer at brawling ranges, and vice-versa. I've had the best results specializing mechs for the AI, since they're not very bright.

Swap some of those chem lasers for high tier non-chem lasers. Damage and range are greatly improved and heat is lower than the 1-2 tier non-chem lasers. 3-4 tier lasers will completely ween you off those inferior chem lasers. Better heat sinks help too.

You ain't kidding! I'm running a Dervish with 1xSRM2, 1xMLas in each arm, plus 1xSRM6+A in each shoulder. The 4 pinpoint SRMs in the arms are great for quick mechs and tanks, and the Artemis SRM12 just hits like a brick. Stripped a JM6-DD in about
6 seconds. 🤣

Man... you passing on the SHD-2d made my heart break. That thing is so glorious i run a full lance of it (with close to stock loadout). Just rip out the heatsinks and go with small lasers, the AC5 is just so good if it has 2 tons of ammo :D

@@kalamander8563 That works too, it is great for sniping. I had fun running it in my SHD, but the long CD and the heat build up turn me off. Also the AI accuracy doesn't really favourite all or nothing guns. I like the AC5 for quick kills more than the beefy Hvy Rifle.

So far in my experience the AI does quite well in Hunchbacks, also I have found that if you put a Tag on an Archer The AI also is much better, the constant voice message from the AI about the tag does not seem as crazy as it was before.
The only other Mech I really trust my AI with is an Atlas

Damnit! I too wanted a Battlemaster. Other players tend to skip that mech because it's mostly an overgrown heavy and by the time they are hunting for assault mechs they want more firepower than that. But I personally love the looks of the good ol' Beemer.

I stan Battlemaster 4P. Ecm + bap in a single mech is priceless and it can still fit some firepower. I have just enough spare tonnage with max armor to have an ERLLSB, LRM5, AC2x2 and SLasx4. Could it be further optimized? Yes. Do I want it optimized? No. It's a long range support mech for AI that can put out lots of damage when I drop with friends

I got me an Orion ON1-V. I put an SRM 6, SRM 4 x2, 2x M Laser, and a Heavy Rifle. Tons of double heat sinks to keep it cool. But, boy, does it put out the damage.

Get a Battlemaster-1S. Then give it 4 MP Lasers (great for getting headshot kills with enough practice), 3 SRM4-STs, & a SRM6-ST. The SRMs when fired all at once into the same target just shreds them (even against Assaults!), and the Lasers are great for more pin-point targets and headshots....or when you don't want to waste SRM ammo. It'll need a bunch of Double Heat Sinks to stay cool, but it can also mount a lot of armor as well. The thing may have been "meant" as a "long range support" 'Mech, but it's even scarier with loads of SRMs. The SRM-STs are also good because they can land headshots pretty well as well, while standard SRMs work more like a "shotgun".

You'll thank me once you give the Battlemaster a whirl. Plus, for it's weight class (Assault), the Battlemaster is still pretty quick.

When picking pilots I always seem to have the best luck with the one's that have not just good gunnery but high evasion skills. Guys who can shoot kind of straight but not get hit back are better overall than guys who can just shoot straight.

Your Treb is going in because you have him set in the #2 slot, and i have found that brawlers do better in the #2 slot and support mechs are better in the #4, but i could be wrong

Your Treb went in because you have an AI driving, it'll close to 10m every time. If you want heavy LRM support, you'll need to post them at a spot on the ground, or drive it personally.

I started using airstrikes and wow...it is sweet! Champion is a 60T mech I am at lvl 8 ith 55m, 4 TBolts, 2 battlemasters, 1 Banshee, and 2 warhammers. U should use the no damage mod. Keeps you from damaging your team members and especially keeps them from killing you( yes I have xp'd that :( ) I already got the speed upgrade :) So my 64kph goes 97 kph now heheheh...nothing like an assault mech going 97 kph. I have noticed that missiles are not as good as before. Even the vaunted srm6 doesn't do as well as before :( Still if I put 2 of the launchers on a merc mech they still wreck stuff:) My mercs are either high 40's or low 50's already. Go to Terra/ Saginaw industrial hu. You should find heavy mechs there as I did. I run the no limit on tonnage mod. I don't think it makes sense to limit yourself on side missions. You would use the biggest, meanest mechs you can get your hands on to run your missions in real life. The campaign missions are still tonnage locked. That's why I have 4 TBolts :) I still haven't tried the Beachhead mission yet. Might later, but for now, I am kicking butt in side missions. Nothing like getting out of a mission by the skin of your teeth heheheh. I was wrong Baradul... it's the Avalon/Saginaw/ELdorado industrial hub...not Terra. My apologies.

When I played the original release, it seemed like legging mechs gave a better chance at getting them in the salvage than coring them.

The only thing I've seemed to notice matters now is whether or not the kill goes Critical; Mushroom = No Salvage Chance. Otherwise, the Salvage Chance on the bigger mechs seem to come as your reputation increases with the Faction (whether you have enough shares to get it is a different story.)

SRMs are amazing! I'm running the Agincourt with 4xsrm6 and 2srm4 and I can kill most mechs in 1-3 blasts. Shame Archers can't tank for shit though.

Something iv noticed is that the ai doesnt know how to use LRM's , they tend to just not shoot them and when they do they don't lock on. I had a Javlin with just an lrm 15 and an lrm 10 and across 4 missions it never did more than 25 damage

You want a terrifying mid-close range Brawler? Find a Battlemaster-1S. Then load it with 4 MP Lasers, 3 SRM4-STs, & an SRM6-ST. That thing just melts other 'Mechs in seconds, and the Lasers make it frighteningly easy to land headshot kills once you've had enough practice at it. And it can also mount enough armor to withstand some serious punishment (though the King Crab is, IMO, the "best" 'Mech when it comes to being a front-line "tank").

XD I'm getting pretty good at head-shotting with lasers! :P

Of course SRMs are good. I started in Marik space and immediately stripped the lrm5 and srm2 from my assassin and put 2 srm4 in their place. I think my next step is to pull the jjs out an load the armor.

I'm not Bardul, but I know I do. I don't really care for SRM-2s, but for 4s and 6s, I prefer the non-streaming versions.

I'm really not sure what the difference is with the streamers Vs non streamers, functionally they seem identical to me other that the visual.

@@groglorb8980 Well, the most extreme is the LRM20-ST. If you fire it and watch the missiles (rather than the battle) then the time it takes the first missile to hit the target is the time it takes all of the missiles from a non-stream LRM20 to hit. The time it takes for the remaining missiles to hit is extra. If the missiles were self-guided, this probably wouldn't be much of an issue, but since they rely on you maintaining a target lock, that's more time you have to remain facing the target, and time during which the lock could be lost and then the remaining missiles will just be wasted. So it both takes longer to launch them all and it takes longer for them all to hit. For SRMs, you have to keep aiming until the last missile fires, and have a much harder time trying to get them all to hit the same area.

Just using an early Centurion, for example, I would fire the LRM10-ST at a helicopter. When they moved, the first missiles would hit, and the rest would often miss. So, I swapped it out for an LRM10. Then they all fired simultaneously in a large group. There's more dispersion, but target movement was much less of a factor, overall missile flight time was reduced, and I could switch targets faster.

The AI wingmen don't seem to use LRM's effectively, they are great with Long range energy weapons just not LRM's. With SRM's however they are great.

Remove their lasers, and if you don't, make sure your LRMs are set to groups 1 (Burst) 2 and 3 (individual LRM launchers for heat management and ammo conservation) then group lasers et al farther down.

That typically makes them remain at range and engage, and they'll actually use one launcher on the weaker targets like turrets and VTOLs instead of blowing 30/40 missiles when 15/20 will suffice.
