Any Port
Intronaut Lyrics

And stare it straight in the eyes
And strap up
And set out
To be unchained
From the chains
Halfway up we'll pause
And gag at the stench
At least its something
And feel the sting
Swimming in dead skin
Theres no coming up for air
The lyrics to Intronaut's song Any Port describe the experience of confronting an obstacle, represented metaphorically as a towering monolith. The singer and their compatriots stand at its feet, determined to overcome it, and despite the daunting task ahead, they forge ahead with characteristic boldness. They are desperate to be free from the shackles that have held them back, and they believe that this is the only path to that liberation - a path that must be taken no matter the cost.
As they ascend the structure, the reality of their situation becomes clear: the stench of decay and death fills their senses, and they fight to keep breathing as they swim through a vast, decaying mass of flesh. Despite these horrors, they refuse to turn back - they will see it through to the end, no matter the cost. The lyrics suggest a kind of Nietzschean determination to meet and overcome what others might consider impossible.
In general, the song's lyrics capture a sense of relentless forward momentum, of pushing through no matter what the cost. The metaphors used suggest that the obstacle to be overcome is something truly monumental - the image of a towering monolith that must be scaled is certainly an imposing one. However, the song's central message is one of unwavering determination to succeed, no matter the odds or the challenges faced.
