Killing Birds With Stones
Intronaut Lyrics

Hard to say, after all we've tried
Broken down
Fading out
As everywhere and everything
Disappears before my very eyes
I know the way to the only thing that's real
So why am I always so close when I decide to walk away
The lyrics of Intronaut's "Killing Birds With Stones" are layered with themes of introspection, self-doubt and the struggle to find purpose amidst existential angst. The opening question, "Does the day keep you up at night?" sets the tone for the internal turmoil that the singer is grappling with. The ambiguity of the question, with no clear indication of what "the day" refers to, adds to the sense of uncertainty and unease. The next line, "Hard to say, after all we've tried" hints at failed attempts to tackle whatever is causing this disruption.
As the song progresses, the mood shifts towards despair, with the lines "Broken down, Fading out" conveying a sense of hopelessness and resignation. The repetition of "As everywhere and everything disappears before my very eyes" highlights the singer's sense of disorientation and detachment from reality. However, the next lines "I crawl back to the places I've been before, I know the way to the only thing that's real" offer a glimmer of hope - the possibility of finding stability and grounding in familiar territory. But then the refrain "So why am I always so close when I decide to walk away" underscores the cyclical nature of the singer's struggles, as they find themselves repeatedly returning to the same patterns despite their best efforts to break free.
Overall, "Killing Birds With Stones" is a poignant exploration of the complexities of the human psyche, with its sparse, enigmatic lyrics leaving ample room for interpretation and introspection.
