Glory
Intwine Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Yesterday
Thinking of waterfalls
Coming down
Crushing you
They would take you away
Fools know
They wouldn't call themselves
Your friend
You could try
And make them believe
To try and convince
They would not see
Never lie, taking on glory
Not the one
Took the time
To think it through
It was irrational
Much too late
You stood aground
Your silvermove
You know
You supported for yourself
You even called yourself a friend
You never get away with this
I hope you get stuck in your bends
Fools know
To do the best they can
They wouldn't call themselves your friend
Say you can
At every chance you get
You know you might as well be dead
You took away so much
Joy in my life
You carved a way
In my heart with a knife
You called me names
And decided my faith
I'm standing stronger
Than I'll ever been
The lyrics to Intwine's song "Glory" appear to be about a toxic friendship or relationship wherein someone has been hurt and is reflecting on the actions of the other person. The words "side or low" suggest a position of weakness or vulnerability, and "thinking of waterfalls coming down, crushing you, they would take you away" paints a picture of overwhelming negative emotions. The word "fools" appears twice, indicating perhaps that the singer feels they were foolish or naive to trust this person. The line "never lie, taking on glory not the one" seems to suggest that the person in question lied and wanted to take credit for something they didn't do to gain glory.
The singer then turns the song toward their own feelings, saying "you took away so much joy in my life" and accusing the other person of carving a way through their heart with a knife. However, they end on a positive note, saying they are standing stronger than ever before. Overall, the song seems to be an introspective reflection on a difficult relationship, and the lyrics suggest that the person speaking has learned from the experience and is moving on.
