Wildest Dreams
Iron Maiden/01 Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm gonna organise some changes in my life,
I'm gonna exorcise the demons of my past,
I'm gonna take the car and hit the open road,
I'm feeling ready to just open up and go

And I just feel like I can be anything,
that I might ever wish to be,
and fantasize just what I want to to be,
make my wildest dreams come true

I'm on my way.
Out on my own again I'm on my way out on the road again,

When I remember back to how that things used to be,
and I was stuck inside a shroud of misery I felt I disappeared so deep inside my self
I couldn't find a way to break away the hell

When I'm feeling down and low,
I vow I'll never be the same again,
I just remember what I am, and visualize what I'm gonna be,

I'm on my way. Out on my own again,
I'm on my way, I'm gonna break away,

I'm gonna break away, I'm out on my own,
I'm out on my own, gonna break away, breaking away,

I'm on my way, out my own again,

I'm on my way, out on the road again, I'm on my way, out on my own again,
I'm on my way, I'm gonna break away,

It's 2003, I'm 14 years old, starting to get into metal. My favourite band is Linkin Park and I've just started listening to Metallica a couple weeks ago, I've maybe heard something about some band called Iron Maiden. It's 7am, I'm getting ready to go to school, I have VH1 on TV, this song starts, life changes.

It’s always great to hear stories from people who actually lived the time eras and got to experience these type of videos when they first dropped 😭

This song was responsible for motivating me when I was in a terrible rut with my life 2007-2008. I had to quit a job I really liked that ended up becoming unbearable and a relationship with a crazy girlfriend who had no motivation in life. I ended up desperately taking a job at machine shop I was miserable at. I noticed the more negativity I was in the more the dark cloud stayed above me. I remembered this song coming out a few year prior. Out of nowhere it popped into my head. Where it got stuck for weeks. It was my motivation to brake free from the energy vampires and soul sucking job. Next thing I know all this positive stuff started happening. I was able to move on and rise above. This song will always have a special place in my heart. Up the IRONS!

Amazing how a song can hit you just right and lift the dark clouds that we all experience in varying degrees from time to time. It is a great fking song for sure. I'm a nobody like most of us are - but I was lucky enough through my relationship with a drummer who was in a very sucessful metal band here in Des Moines (RIP Bro) who had the same management as Maiden to get hooked up with MH at Phantom Music. She has been incredible over the past 11 years at getting me hooked up with passes and she has passed messages along to the band for me from time to time and sometimes I get feedback from her. I'm going to reach out with your story and see if I get any feedback and if I do I'll repost. I hope things are cruising along for you. Up The Irons!!
