From Victim's last LP
Too much for a risc for a golden disc
The price he paid for money
Ce soir, ce soir
Assassination d'un rock and roll star
Ce soir, ce soir
Sing your song, you can't go wrong
Tempted his business advisor
No need for alarm, you'll come to no harm
He didn't mention the sniper
Ce soir, ce soir
Assassination d'un rock and roll star
Ce soir, ce soir
Assassination d'un rock and roll star
The news is read, the need is fed
One yawn, two yawn and back to bed
Turn off the light, and hold me tight
Come on, maman, bend down your head
And just sing on, immortal song
Fini, belle vie, bonne nuit
Remember that song called 'Kill Me'
A lecture on political chicanary
Of peoples rape recorded on tape
Brought shame to the presidency
Tonight, tonight
One more point for human rights
Tonight, tonight
One more point for human rights
Remember that song called 'Kill Me'
Once used by a man from Gallilea
He had nothing to lose, he was King of the Jews
Secured his place in history
Ce soir, ce soir
Assassination d'un provocateur
Ce soir, ce soir
Assassination d'un provocateur
The news is read, the need is fed
One yawn, two yawn and back to bed
Turn off the light, and hold me tight
Come on, maman, bend down your head
And just sing on, immortal song
Fini, belle vie
Turn off the light, and hold me tight
Come on
Vick played his part with all his heart
He wasn't prepared for the shock
When the hollow lead bit into his head
A new martyr for the book of rock
When the hollow lead bit into his head
A new martyr for the book of rock
Ce soir
Assassination d'un rock and roll star
Ce soir, ce soir
Assassination d'un rock and roll star
Ce soir
Assassination d'un rock and roll provocateur
Ce soir, ce soir, ce soir
Assassination d'un rock and roll star, yeah
Iron Maiden's "Kill Me Ce Soir" is a song that talks about the price of fame and fortune in the unpredictable world of rock and roll. The opening lines refer to a song called "Kill Me" from a band called Victim's last LP. The song is deemed too risky for winning a golden disc, and the singer paid the price for succumbing to the pressure of making money.
The chorus, "Ce soir, ce soir, assassination d'un rock and roll star" can be translated to mean "Tonight, tonight, the assassination of a rock and roll star". The lyrics suggest the murder of a musician, possibly for speaking out about a political issue, as indicated by the second verse.
The song also references the assassination of a "provocateur," possibly alluding to the murder of John Lennon. Iron Maiden offers a tribute to the slain musician by referencing the murders of other influential figures who lost their lives either in the name of fame or advocating for human rights.
This song offers a reflection on the challenges musicians face in the pursuit of fame and fortune. It also highlights the danger that comes with fame, showcasing the price that musicians paid for their revolutionary music.
