Critics have compared Iron Savior's sound and musical approach to classic heavy metal bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and Queensrÿche. Kai Hansen's presence in the band brought to the Iron Savior albums on which he appeared a style heavily influenced by Gamma Ray and Helloween.
Since its inception, Iron Savior has released twelve studio albums, two EPs, three singles and one live album. Despite numerous lineup changes, Piet has continued to direct the band and is currently the only remaining founding member.

Iron Savior Lyrics

It's been so long, we've missed you,
Been searching for honor and glory
Out in the dark I have fought for survival
As thunder and gunfire were roaring
Back home, the time and the place of
My own my future is calling I know
I must return from my deadly sleep
The only chance I've been given, my destiny
Take me home, take me home
Black as a hole is the soil I was walking
As black as the troops were before me
Relentless attack as my eyes started bleeding,
Get razed to the ground by the soaring
It's time, you better be leading me home
Our future is calling I know
I am the answer to all the remaining unknown
I must return from my deadly sleep
The only choice I've been given, my destiny
Take me home
Roaring, embracing the thunder
Twisting and turning around
Locked in I will not go under
Save me before I will drown
I must return
Take me home, take me home
Take me home, take me home
Take me home, take me home
Let me go, let me go
Back to my home, back to the people I know
Out in the cold but where can I go I don't know
Where can I go I don't know
Come and take me home
Iron Savior's song "Deadly Sleep" tells the story of a soldier who has been away from home for a long time, fighting a war for his country. He has faced death and destruction, but now he longs to return home to his loved ones. He reflects on the darkness of the battlefield, the thunder and gunfire, and the bloodshed he witnessed. The soldier knows that he must return from his deadly sleep, and that going home is his only chance of survival. As he yearns for his home, he calls out to be taken back there.
The lyrics evoke powerful images of war and the emotional toll it takes on those who fight in it. The soldier's determination and bravery are evident in his desire to go back home, and the chorus reinforces this by repeating the plea to take him home. The song's message is about the importance of a sense of belonging and the need for a sanctuary amidst the chaos of war.
Iron Savior's "Deadly Sleep" is a compelling and emotional song that speaks to the experiences of many soldiers who have served their country. It highlights the personal sacrifice they make and the importance of coming back to a place where they feel safe and loved.
