scorton's creek
Isaac Dunbar Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'll find a scary film to watch
I know that you've had enough
But I can't help to see you scared, I love to hold you
Yeah, I don't care, I don't care
As long as I can hold you
Let's go to the tennis court
And take some pictures once more
I'd love to sneak a peek of you, while you're posing
You get embarrassed, laugh a bit
And then you'll end up frozen

Let's go for another walk
Scorton's Creek is around the block
We'll find a crazy dog to bark at us at sundown
We'll learn his name and story
Where he's from, then go on

I don't wanna say goodbye
I fear you love somebody else
But there's no way that you can control how you feel
So I'll just have to learn between what's fake and real

I don't care, I don't care, as long as I can hold you
I don't care, I don't care, as long as I can hold you

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Isaac Dunbar's song Scorton's Creek illustrate a desire for closeness and intimacy with a loved one, even if it means doing things that are a bit unconventional or even scary. The singer expresses a desire to watch a scary film with their partner, despite the fact that they know their partner has already had enough. This desire to hold their partner and watch them be scared speaks to the singer's underlying need for physical and emotional closeness. Similarly, the singer suggests taking pictures of their partner at a tennis court, again emphasizing a desire to see them vulnerable and exposed. However, the singer also acknowledges that their partner can be embarrassed and hesitant in these situations, showcasing an awareness and sensitivity to their partner's feelings.

The song's title, Scorton's Creek, is significant as it refers to a location that the singer and their partner frequent on their walks. This serves as a metaphor for the relationship, where they are exploring new territory emotionally and physically. Additionally, the mention of a dog barking at them at sundown adds a sense of danger and vulnerability, yet the singer still wants to hold onto their partner and keep exploring. There is a sense of uncertainty and fear of their partner loving someone else, but the singer is willing to endure this fear as long as they can hold onto their partner.

Stefan Ozera What’s the story behind that lyrics?

@seven_xanti

@@adrianklimas4647 the lyrics describe a story of a couple, loving and laughing until it gets to the last four lines: "I don't wanna say goodbye/ I fear you'll love somebody else/ but there's no way that you can control how you feel/ and I'll just have to learn between what's fake and what's real/ these lines show that he knows that his lover no longer loves him back but was willing to act almost oblivious to it in order to relive the memories they shared

@happykiller2672

No offense but say it’s gay I’m sorry but that’s just my Opinion..
