However, true love and emotions are not as reliable as we'd like them to be.

The societal roles we play and the clothes we wear are ultimately meaningless.

But it's never us to blame
We're inclined to deflect responsibility and blame someone or something else for the problems in our lives.

A new prescription with a different name
People try to find quick fixes for their problems, even if it means taking different medications with the same effects.

But it tastes the same
Despite attempts to change, things stay the same, and we're still stuck with the same issues.

So we role the dice and play
We keep taking chances, even though we know the odds are not in our favor.

Take our chances anyway
We're willing to risk it all, hoping for a better outcome.

And if it starts they'll be
If we succeed, people will attribute it to our love and hard work.

Banking on my love
Love is seen as the sole factor behind our success, when that's not always the case.

One in ten can't save us from
Even if we do succeed, there will still be a considerable percentage of people who will never make it out of their tough situations.

The sad statistic that we've become
Our situation is a bleak reflection of the hard reality that many individuals and families are facing.

At times, it feels like people and circumstances have already beaten us into submission.

As our problems persist, my family and I are becoming more distant from each other.

I'm resorting to unhealthy coping mechanisms, like drinking, to numb my pain.

My mother continues to betray us, unable to face reality and thwarting our attempts to heal.

Her actions are hurting not only me, but also our entire family.

Our struggles persist, and it feels like that our situation, as well as the situation of many others like us, is hopeless.
