Warm Winds
Isaiah Rashad Lyrics

Hey glory child, don't you worry
Stuttering, shaken off your fear
Beauty's never given in a hurry
So condescending, leave your questions here
Hey glory child, don't you worry
I can see your skeleton so clear
You're better off just looking in the mirror
Show me a better way, I wish you could
Show me a better way, I wish you would
Come home today, you could
Come home today
I am shooting stars you will never see me
Watching over your every mistake
Digging out of graves is never easy
Handing you my shovel, here to take
Always playing catch me if you can
Gingerbread you heard I'm sweet to taste
Close your eyes, let go, and count to ten
I'll keep track of every moment wasted
Show me a better way, I wish you could
Show me a better way, I wish you would
Come home today, you could
Come home today
Dear God make me a bird, so I can fly far, far far away
Dear God make me a bird, so I can fly far, far far away
Dear God make me a bird, so I can fly far, far far away
Call your phone on a late night
I recall your soul had a taste like (taste like)
Gardens, flowers, warm winds
The clouds below your feet
Quit clipping on your wings
Sometimes we hate to leave somebody
What's happening to we?
Warm winds on a space ride
When I call your phone on a late night
I recall your soul had a taste like
Gardens, flowers, warm winds
The clouds below your feet
Quit clipping on your wings
Sometimes we hate to leave somebody
What's happening to we?
Warm winds on a space ride
Sometimes, I call your name out loud
Just to make sure it's you
Sometimes, I crack my veins open
Just to see if it's blue
You clean me up
The clouds below your feet (clean)
Quit clipping on your wings (our wings, yeah)
Sometimes we hate to leave somebody (you'll see)
What's happening to we?
Warm winds on a space ride
When I call your phone on a late night
I recall your soul had a taste like
Gardens, flowers, warm winds
The clouds below your feet
Quit clipping on your wings
Sometimes we hate to leave somebody
What's happening to we?
Warm winds on a space ride
Sometimes I bite my lips and close my eyes
Just to pretend it's you
Long live, lonely thoughts on Thursday nights (ooh)
That's when I think of you
We were all thirteen once (once)
Long live tramp stamps and Pepper Ann (Pepper Ann)
You ain't never judge me for that (uh uh)
You will always love me for that (sometimes we hate to leave somebody)
What's happening to we?
Warm winds on a space ride
When I call your phone on a late night
I recall your soul had taste like
Gardens
Isaiah Rashad’s song Warm Winds is a contemplative track about reassurance and the self-discovery journey. The song opens with the repetition of “glory child” followed by an exhortation to not worry, shaking off fear, and letting go of doubts. The singer evokes the image of Beauty, as something that is never given in a hurry, and asks the listener to stop being condescending and leave their questions behind. The lyrics are a reminder that one needs to be patient with oneself and engage in introspection.
The chorus of “Show me a better way, I wish you could” pleas for guidance and direction while calling for a return home. But the journey doesn't come easy, and Isaiah Rashad acknowledges that dealing with mistakes and digging oneself out of grave situations is hard work. The metaphor of “shooting stars you will never see me” and “digging out of graves is never easy” evoke a sense of longing and understanding that everyone faces struggles in life. The lyrics are a comforting reminder that we are not alone in our struggles and that we can rely on others for support.
The song ends with a reference to someone special that the singer calls on late nights whose soul has a taste like “gardens, flowers, warm winds.” The lyrics switch to the second person from here on and make it clear that the encounters and memories are personal. The last section of the song is a stream of consciousness where he reminisces about being thirteen, the things that he and the other person shared, and the promise of unconditional love. The song shows us that even in times of uncertainty, we can find comfort in the memories we have shared with people we cherish. Ultimately, Warm Winds is a song that encourages self-reflection and introspection while also exploring themes of friendship, love, and hope.

@@sleepy3211 Yeah, true. Her mixtapes are better called "underrated" than this but I feel that this could have gotten more credit.
