The very fundamentals of our society were destroyed

And investments fade away
Everything we put effort into vanished

I guess we got off to a bad start
It was clear from the beginning that things weren't going to go well

No oxygen
We can't breathe

What is the outcome?
What will happen?

Hungry humans
People are starving

We've got to enslave them
We have to take control and force them to do what we want

We'll burn those bridges
We'll destroy our connections to others

When we come to them
When we reach that point

I'm not just their leader
I'm also one of them

The food supply has been depleted
We have run out of food

The river's ran dry just when it was needed
The water source has vanished when it was most crucial

The rats come out to take it over
Others will exploit the situation when we are weak

Singing, squeaking, "We built this city"
The rats are gloating and claiming ownership over what was once ours

It's hard to breathe
The environment is suffocating

But we couldn't leave
We were stuck with nowhere else to go

Nowhere left to go
No more options

Almost everybody died
Most of the population perished

Drank the tears from those who cried
We consumed the sorrow of others

We shriveled from the sodium
We deteriorated from the salty tears we drank

And a map was found with an X on it
We discovered a mysterious map

So we followed it there
We journeyed to the location on the map

And what did we find?
What was the discovery?

An underground design
An underground structure

As we entered in to our surprise
We were taken aback by what was inside

Rivers of playgrounds ?
A paradise-like area with endless possibilities

The ancients just stayed down
Those who made it before us never left

They never stopped moving
They never remained in one place

We stumbled towards them
We moved towards their civilization

But they locked all the barn doors
They didn't want us to see what was in their society

So we had to dig deeper
We searched for other ways to learn more

And the deep was dark
The more we looked, the less we understood

I wanted to sleep forever
I wanted to escape the circumstances and never wake up

Wake up later, maybe never
Maybe things would be better if I never woke up

We had to build a civilization
We had to start from scratch

Let the planet focus on the planet's rotation
Let nature take its course

We tried, we tried
We made an effort

We really tried
We put in all our effort

But no one could do it
We couldn't do it alone

Happily alive
Thriving and content

Never learned how to survive
We were ill-equipped to handle tough situations

We were humans being useless
We were unable to be productive or contribute to society

We're freed into oblivion
We are able to do what we want without consequences

No traces of civilized living eating the earth
The remnants of society are no longer visible

We're fading to oblivion
We are disappearing from existence

No traces of civilized living eaten by earth
Society has disintegrated and been absorbed by nature
