In 2006 Isobel released a collaborative LP (Ballad of the Broken Seas) with former Screaming Trees and Queens of the Stone Age singer Mark Lanegan, a mixture of folk and more rock-orientated music. October 2006 also saw the release of her latest album, Milkwhite Sheets, a more acoustic folk album, consisting of a mixture of traditional songs alonside Isobel's own compositions.

And love's a pleasure when first it is new
But as love grows older it still grows colder
And fades away like the morning dew
Come all you fair maids, now take a warning
Don't ever heed what a young man say
He's like a star on some foggy morning
I left my father, I left my mother
I left my brothers and sisters too.
I left my home and my fond relations,
Oh my young man, for the sake of you
O love is pleasing and love is teasing
And love's a pleasure when first it is new
But as love grows older, it soon grows colder
And fades away like the morning dew
The song "O Love Is Teasin'" by Isobel Campbell is a traditional folk song that speaks about love's fleeting and unpredictable nature. The opening lines suggest that love can be both teasing and pleasing, and that it's a pleasurable experience when it's new. However, like the morning dew, love fades over time and becomes colder. This is a reminder that, like all things, even the most intense love is not eternal.
The second verse is a warning to young women about the nature of men. The comparison to a star on a foggy morning suggests that men can be elusive, unpredictable, and difficult to understand, and that one should not believe everything they say. The third verse speaks about the sacrifices that one makes for the sake of love. The singer has left her family, friends, and home to be with her young man.
Overall, the song is a poignant reminder of the fickle nature of love, and how it can bring both joy and pain. It's a call to approach love with caution and to be aware of its fleeting nature.
