Trouble, oh trouble
Haven't slipped a day in years
Haven't slipped a day in years
Haven't slipped a day
When the neon lights that find you
Leave our memory far behind you
Listen how I love you
[Chorus: x2]
When the world steals all hope from you
Wonder where you dreams have gone to
You're the one I still belong to
Listen why I love you
The song "Trouble" by Isobel Campbell is a hauntingly beautiful song with a melancholic feel to it. The song is about the hardships that the singer's love interest goes through, and how she is always there for them no matter what. The first verse talks about how the neon lights have left and how the singer will remind the love interest of how she loves them. Essentially, the singer is saying that no matter what struggles the love interest goes through, she will always be there for them.
The second verse talks about how the world may take away all hope and dreams, but the singer still belongs to the love interest. This is a message of hope and a reminder to the love interest that they are not alone in their struggles. The chorus repeats the phrase "Trouble, oh trouble, haven't slipped a day in years" which can be interpreted as the singer saying that she has always been there for the love interest, despite the troubles they may have faced.
Overall, the song is a beautiful tribute to the singer's love interest and a reminder that no matter what struggles we may face, we are not alone and there is always someone who loves us.
