Reprise of Not Forgotten
Do you realize that you're alive at the greatest time in history
We are the chosen generation we are the chosen generation
we're gonna change the world we're gonna change the world
The song "Not Forgotten" by Israel & New Breed is a powerful declaration of faith and trust in God. The chorus repeats the phrase "I am not forgotten" three times, emphasizing the idea that even when we feel alone or abandoned, God remembers us and cares for us. The second half of the chorus adds another layer of comfort, as the singer affirms that God knows their name. To be known and remembered by God is a powerful message of love and acceptance.
The verses continue this theme, describing the ways that God is present in our lives even when we may not notice. The first verse lists a series of opposites - light over darkness, strength over weakness, joy over sadness - suggesting that God is able to bring beauty and goodness into our lives even in the midst of difficulty. The second verse expands on this idea, describing God as a father to the fatherless, a friend to the friendless, and hope for the hopeless. All of these images reinforce the idea that God is a loving, caring presence in our lives who never abandons us.
The bridge and vamp sections of the song add an additional layer of praise and gratitude. The bridge begins with the phrase "I will praise you" and continues with a quote from Psalm 139 ("I am fearfully and wonderfully made"), emphasizing our gratitude for God's creative power and care. The vamp repeats the phrase "I am not forgotten" and adds the hope-filled statement "never forsaken," driving home the message of God's constant presence and care.
Overall, "Not Forgotten" is a powerful affirmation of faith in God's love and care. It emphasizes the idea that God is always with us, even when we may not feel it, and that we can trust in his steadfast love and faithfulness.

Yashar'el Is Not Forgotten
Isaiah 44:21."Remember these, O Ya'aqov
And Yashar'el, for you are My servant;
I have formed you, you are My servant;
O Yashar'el, you will not be forgotten by Me!
22I have blotted out, like a thick cloud, your transgressions,
And like a cloud, your sins.
Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.β
23Sing, O heavens, for Yahuah has done it!
Shout, you lower parts of the earth;
Break forth into singing, you mountains,
O forest, and every tree in it!
For the Yahuah has redeemed Ya'aqov,
And glorified Himself in Yashar'el

I'll never forget the first time I heard this song...it was not long after Hurricane Katrina (2005) devastated the Gulf Coast. I'm a native New Orleanian who had been living in Houston since 1997. Virtually my entire family was impacted by the hurricane and was evacuated to Houston. In the midst of assisting my family and anyone who needed help, I was mourning "the passing" of my hometown. It was extremely overwhelming...I knew the only way I could make it was to trust in God and continue to put one foot in front of the other. In the midst of it all, I visited Lakewood Church and Israel Houghton and New Breed sung this song...a refreshing spirit overwhelmed my soul. From that day forward, that song's lyrics have been a "go to" for encouragement. Thank You, God! I'm also grateful to Israel Houghton & New Breed for being obedient in writing, producing and singing this song.
