After going their separate ways, and each converting to the Rastafari movement, they reunited in Kingston and formed a vocal group. Funding for their first album came in the form of a grant from the Twelve Tribes of Israel branch of Rastafari after Hugh Booth, a member of the Twelve Tribes, had overheard the three men singing in a wooded area outside Kingston. Apple and Wiss were living in the area, which they had converted into a home.
Israel Vibration recorded three albums; "The Same Song", "Unconquered People", and "Why You So Craven" before temporarily disbanding in 1981 after recording sessions for the latter were left incomplete. The three men moved to the United States to seek professional health care and escape the growing Dancehall movement in Jamaica. In 1988, Gary "Dr. Dread" Himmelfarb, founder of RAS Records, urged the trio to reunite and record an album. Skelly, Apple, and Wiss were flown to Washington, D.C. to record a new album at Lion and Fox Recording Studios. "Strength of my Life", the group's fourth album and first of 18 CD releases on the RAS label, was met with great praise and is considered one of the few post-golden era touchstones of the roots reggae genre.
In 1997, Apple Gabriel left the group to pursue a solo career. Skelly and Wiss continue to record albums and tour the world as Israel Vibration, backed by longtime associates Roots Radics.
Greedy Dog
Israel Vibration Lyrics

As the sun rise
It's just another day
For you to realize
The time is dread
Oh, Rasta Children
If you stay in these corners
They kill you with tax I say
Where the grass is green always
Sitting under a tree
Where there's a running stream yeah
Yet never the less
It's because of the situation
Why we find ourselves
Down here inna Babylon
And I know
We naugh go bow down low
And I know
We naugh go bow down low
For, eye see kill Miss Thomas pus
And the greedy dog lose the bone
Just can't find
The way to come home
For he was crossing the bridge
So then he
Looked down in the waters
And he saw his shadow
And he opened his mouth
And his bone fell out
So when he opened his mouth
Then his bone fell out
So long
The lyrics of "Greedy Dog" by Israel Vibration, a reggae band that emerged in the late 1970s, are a commentary on the systemic oppression experienced by black people in Babylon, or the Western world. Through their music, the group portrays the struggle for survival and the quest for liberation from Babylon's oppressive and corrupt social structures. The opening lines, "See you in the morning, As the sun rises, It's just another day, For you to realize," are an invitation to join in this quest for enlightenment and to be aware of the oppressive forces that surround and constrain us.
Israel Vibration's call to the Rasta Children to be wary of the dangers lurking within Babylon's corners echoes the message conveyed in many other reggae songs. The phrase "They kill you with tax I say" alludes to the economic exploitation of the poor and marginalized, who bear the brunt of oppressive laws and policies that benefit the rich and powerful. The group advocates for an alternative way of life that prioritizes peace, mutual respect, and harmony with nature. "I rather to be Where the grass is green always, Sitting under a tree, Where there's a running stream yeah," they sing, emphasizing the importance of simplicity and connection with nature.
The final lines of the song, "For, eye see kill Miss Thomas pus, And the greedy dog lose the bone, Just can't find, The way to come home," are an allegory for the consequences of greed and selfishness. The story of the greedy dog losing his bone serves as a warning against the dangers of allowing one's desires to override everything else, including the welfare of others. Israel Vibration's message is clear: to find a way to come home, we must strive for unity, equality, and justice for all.

See you in the morning
Meet you at daybreak
As the sun rise
At dawn, when the sun is ascending
It's just another day
Today is no different from any other day
For you to realize
An opportunity to comprehend your surroundings
The time is dread
A time of danger and anxiety
Oh, Rasta Children
Addressing fellow Rastafarians
If you stay in these corners
If you remain in these unfavorable situations
They kill you with tax I say
The government will impoverish you with taxes
I rather to be
I would prefer to be
Where the grass is green always
In a place of abundance and prosperity
Sitting under a tree
Relaxing in the shade
Where there's a running stream yeah
Where there is fresh and flowing water
Yet never the less
Nevertheless
It's because of the situation
It's due to our circumstances
Why we find ourselves
The reason we are here
Down here inna Babylon
In this oppressive society
And I know
I am aware
We naugh go bow down low
We will not submit to oppression
For, eye see kill Miss Thomas pus
I witnessed the murder of Miss Thomas and others
And the greedy dog lose the bone
One who is greedy will lose their possessions
Just can't find
Unable to locate
The way to come home
The path to return to a state of peace and harmony
For he was crossing the bridge
He was in the process of transition
So then he
At that moment
Looked down in the waters
Observed his reflection in the river below
And he saw his shadow
He noticed his shadow's lack of a bone
And he opened his mouth
He reacted with surprise
And his bone fell out
His possession was lost
So when he opened his mouth
His greed led to his loss
Then his bone fell out
He lost his possession due to his own actions
So long
Farewell
