I'm Alive
Issa Lyrics

Can't describe it, but it made me see
That life is stronger than both you and me
Once a fire burned so brightly
But your heat turned our love into sand
Don't ask me, baby, why it has to end
I'm alive
And I'm better off alone
Like a queen on her throne
I can fly
Without you
And this time I'm gonna make it
Here on my own
I'm alive
Can you hear it, can you see me
A reflection of what I used to be
It's everywhere in the air that you breathe
When I saw you, oh, the first time
Glaciers melted, water turned to wine
How could I, baby, ever be so blind
I'm alive
Without you
And I'm better off alone
Like a queen on her throne
I can fly
Without you
And this time I'm gonna make it
Here on my own
I'm alive
I'm on my way now
Leaving you behind now
Taking it so slowly
I will make it through
Feel so much stronger
Don't need you any longer
Now it's time to spread my wings and learn to fly
I'm alive
I can fly
Without you
And this time I'm gonna make it
Here on my own
I'm alive
Without you
And I'm better off alone
Like a queen on her throne
I can fly
Without you
And this time I'm gonna make it
Here on my own
I'm alive
The lyrics of Issa's "I'm Alive" is about moving on from a failed relationship and finding strength in being independent. The singer acknowledges that the relationship they had is over and that they had been blinded by love, refusing to see the reality of the relationship. They have endured heartache but have come to the realization that they are better off alone and can survive without the other person. The singer describes feeling a sense of empowerment, as though they are now the ruler of their own life, capable of spreading their wings and flying.
The lyrics contain contrasting imagery throughout the song, with the opening lines describing an unidentifiable feeling and how it made the singer see. The song talks about a once-bright fire that ultimately turned love into sand, suggesting that the relationship was once passionate but gradually lost its spark. In contrast, the singer describes finding newfound strength and independence as they leave their past behind and focus on their future.
Overall, "I'm Alive" is a powerful anthem for independence and self-discovery. It encourages individuals to take control of their lives and find the strength to move forward after a difficult experience.

It's actually an amazing album. Very strong music with a great singer. Awesome riffs. I would actually recommend it for anyone who likes female-fronted metal.

It's now ten years since Sign of Angels was released. This was and still is one of my all-time favorite rock albums. Issa could easily have been the new reigning queen of hard rock, but each album after this has been a forgettable pop confection. It's probably too late now, but I really wish she would get back to material like this. The world doesn't need more pop divas.
@goldeneagle2066
probably one of my favorite songs

Issa's Sign of Angels is literally one of my all-time favorite rock albums! If she puts out another album, it should be more like this and less pop. I'm Alive. As I Live and Breathe, Flying High, How Will I Know are fantastic rock tracks! More, please!
