Being a drummer, I think I can give a good explanation. Now, I’m not sure if this applies to anyone else, but most drummers who actually try to be better usually need to have a down to earth attitude to be willing to practice. I went from being super cocky, to completely disregarding my talent, to finally having a more realistic perspective on my skill. Once you see past that cognitive distortion, whether it be a cocky misrepresentation or a self-deprecating one, you find it much easier to find motivation to practice and get better. I don’t know if this applies to other drummers, but this is what my situation was like, and I felt it was worth something to the conversation.

Matt is also simply a very very good drummer. He does a lot of weird stuff like Lara Ulrich but Matt knows how to stay in time doing it and has never sounded bad live that I’ve seen.

Anyone else noticed that this is mostly pre recorded? There's a good few times where the drumming is completely different to what he is playing on screen, especially in the faster drums fills and where he plays doubles with his left hand that aren't in he song nor are they audible. He's a good drummer so I don't know why a lot of this is fake.
