During the years that followed Itch-E & Scratch-E, aka Andy Rantzen and Paul Mac, were at the forefront of a movement quickly gathering momentum. When The Boiler Room was added to the Big Day Out, Itch-E & Scratch-E were there, preaching their beats to the ravers, but importantly, also to the rock kids in Nirvana T-shirts. A cross-pollination had begun.
The album "Itch-E Kitch-E Koo" (1992) spawned the single "Sweetness and Light" which became a crossover hit breaking down barriers between the underground and the overground. Then came an ARIA Award for Best Dance Release in 1994, and Paul fulfilled every parent’s nightmare when he thanked the ecstasy dealers in his speech. The song’s deep connection was recently confirmed when it appeared in JMag’s peer-voted Greatest Australian Songs of All Time.
Fast-forward 15 years from Itch-E and Scratch-E’s first beats, and, over several beers, the duo re-discovered their creative friendship. More beers followed, and they found themselves in Scratch-E’s home studio making music. The guys were having a ball, so a weekly date followed where they jammed together into the wee hours of the morning. Those sessions can now be heard on their new album, HOORAY FOR EVERYTHING!!!
HOORAY FOR EVERYTHING!!! includes the mental "Stretch-E” which is a banging collection of elastic sounds and classic Itch-E & Scratch-E melody. The cheeky mash-up with SCRIBE's "F.r.e.s.h" has been imaginatively titled "r.e.f.r.e.s.h".
But the first taste from the new album will be the boundary crushing “Other Planets” featuring vocals from New Yorker, MDNA, who Paul met years ago as a Dissociatives fan on tour in Paris. When Paul bumped into him five years later in New York, a collaboration was spawned around a new Itch-E and Scratch-E backing track that blew all involved away.
Itch-E & Scratch-E also returned to the stage earlier this year for their first live shows in over a decade. The electro-duo bounced their way across the national Big Day Out delivering their new beats to enthusiastic crowds of old and new fans in the Boiler Room. More shows will follow later this year.
HOORAY FOR EVERTHING will be released May 2010 through Ministry Of Sound.

Uh

Shoutout to Karl for this oneI got you, you got me
And baby you can roger that like a copy
I like it when you talking back, you so bossy
Put you on my bad list, you so naughty
I’m not Santa, you still gon get a gift when you come home
Make sure the door’s closed, when you twist the lock
Don’t wanna see you wit your clothes on
Because I got you, you got me
I said baby what you see, she said you in me
I enter her facility, like it was Italy
I felt her fertility, without ability
I went inside her mentally, and put in imagery
So every time she think of me, she think of liberty
I set her body free
I prophesied the prophecy, would be a part of me
Can call me Cupid, but I struck 4 of her main arteries
And this ain’t science, cause you know you got me
Ain’t no you without me girl
If you were worried 'bout where
I been or who I saw or
What club I went to with my homies
Baby don't worry you know that you got me
Got me
You got me
Yeah
And
As long as you know I’m the one
Or You can be hanging wit the ladies
And I’m not worried
Just know that they not me
Talk to em
She not you
They not us
In God we Trust
We had trust issues
Alone when you cried, to dry ya eyes wit the tissues
I remember times, I had the time to say, I miss you
I wish I coulda kissed you, instead I broke ya heart
I wasn’t smart I didn’t meant to
And now I’m in the dark
Wondering why, I wasn’t by your side
When you let them tears fly, I could’ve caught em out the sky
And I apologize, if time were your tears I wouldn’t let the time fly
I realize, I wasn’t perfect
And baby you were worth it
And if I could rewind, the past of time I would reverse it
Then practice and rehearse
To kill all of that nonsense and put it in a hearse
But it keep reviving, time after time
But I can’t heal the hurt
Can’t repair the pain
I can’t stop the suffer
So I say let it rain( let it rain)
Aye
If you were worried 'bout where (if you worried)
I been or who I saw or (who I saw)
What club I went to with my homies (my homies)
Baby don't worry you know that you got me
You Got me
You got me
You got me
I got you
Just call me
Yeah
And
And you can go anywhere
As long as you know I’m the one or
You can be hanging wit the ladies, and I’m not worried
Just know that they not me
They not you
They not me
They not us
They not we
Well I’ll be there in a minute, and you already that I’m in it, cause you know that I gotchu
The song "You Got Me Running" by Itch-E & Scratch-E is a love song that talks about the nature of relationships and the extent of emotional connections that exist between partners. The first verse of the song talks about the singer's partner being bossy, naughty and how he likes it when she talks back. He promises her a gift when she gets home, and the two share an intimate moment. The second verse focuses on trust issues that the singer and his partner have faced. The singer apologizes for breaking her heart and not being there to comfort her when she was crying. The song ends with a reaffirmation of their relationship, with the singer saying that he is always there for his partner and that she has him.
The song is fairly straightforward in its meaning, but the lyrics are open to interpretation. The first few lines of the song list different types of "boopers" as a form of address or dedication to certain groups of people. The use of the word "boopers" is brushed over and never explained explicitly, leaving it to the listener's judgment to decide who or what the term refers to. The singer's assertion that his partner can "roger that like a copy" could be interpreted as the singer wanting his partner to agree and acknowledge their relationship, while also reinforcing the idea that the two are in a position of power over everyone else.
Ultimately, the song is a declaration of love and loyalty that seeks to reassure the singer's partner that he is always there for her in good and bad times. It is a song that emphasizes the importance of trust, communication, and emotional connection in a relationship.
