Berlin
Iva Davies Lyrics

In Berlin, by the wall
You were five foot ten inches tall
It was very nice
Candlelight and Dubonnet on ice

We were in a small cafe
You could hear the guitars play
It was very nice
It was paradise

You're right and I'm wrong
Hey babe, I'm gonna miss you now that you're gone
One sweet day

Oh, you're right and I'm wrong
You know I'm gonna miss you now that you're gone
One sweet day
One sweet day

In a small, small cafe
We could hear the guitars play
It was very nice
Candlelight and Dubonnet on ice

Don't forget, hire the vet
He hasn't had much fun yet
It was very nice
Hey honey, it was paradise

You're right and I'm wrong
Hey babe, I'm gonna miss you now that you're gone
One sweet day
You're right, oh, and I'm wrong
You know I'm gonna miss you now that you're gone
One sweet day, one sweet day

One sweet day

One sweet day, oh, one sweet day
One sweet day, baby, baby, one sweet day ...

Overall Meaning

The song "Berlin" by Iva Davies / Icehouse depicts a romantic and peaceful moment in Berlin. It tells the story of two lovers enjoying each other's company in a small café in the middle of the city. The lyrics describe their physical attributes, such as the height of the female, and the romantic ambiance created by candlelight and Dubonnet on ice. In the song, the female character seems to be the dominant one, as she is "right" and the male character is "wrong." Despite this, they both relish in their time together and the peacefulness of the moment. The ending of the song is bittersweet, as the female character is leaving, and the male character acknowledges that he will miss her, but hopes for one more sweet day with her.

Can't believe it is 26 years since this premiered....one of the most memorable dances I've ever seen....lucky enough to review it for a WAnewspaper back in the day....the constant connection of limbs, and hands, in the first section....they literally stay together touching through the most complex, twisting moves....then shadowing each other....so close but not touching ....the ideas about protecting and watching over someone....the angel.....the mortal....and the ultimate reality of being apart in the end....so inspirational....

This is the most fascinating choreography I've ever seen, and the dancers have such chemistry, such trust and commitment of movement into one another. Simply mesmerizing. Beautiful music arrangement as well, singer is slightly off but I like his voice.

@sierra6588 if you can't recognize when a singer is off key, you're just wrong. there are correct notes and there are wrong notes, lol. get a clue. i'm not saying it's throughout.
