Izabella IS ALSO Psychedelic rock from SF
Izabella was born out of years of musical connections. Like many bands before, and many yet to come, the search for new music is what ultimately brings these musicians together. The love of the improvisational/jam community is what drives and inspires them to push forward. Sean Lehe (guitar/vocals), Lucas Carlton (drums) and Murph (bass/guitar) spent four years recording and touring with Bay Area jamband, Home At Last. With a desire for a fresh start, the trio decided in the spring of 2006 to branch out with a new face and renewed sense of purpose. After years of networking in the scene, close connections were made with some of the most talented players around. As a result, the trio has grown to a five-piece machine following a musical merger with Sacramento based “Four Guys From Reno”. The Sacramento boys bring the soulful energy of Brian Rogers (vocals/bass/percussion/guitar) and the chunky funk of Sam Phelps (keys/bass/guitar/vocals). Brian and Sam have been musical brothers since High School and have already created an impressive legacy of solo recordings.
The intent of this group is to develop a musical space that is exploratory, challenging AND accessible. Inspired genre-bending songwriting, danceable energy, and emotive vocals are the key ingredients toward this end. No musical experience, however, is complete without strong community. As IZABELLA was born from musical connections, so will it thrive and grow with positive connections made in the community.
The band has made big strides in its first year of operation. After 80 gigs from March to December, exceptional performances at Bobolink Music Festival and Las Tortugas Dance of the Dead, and sit-ins with Tim Carbone and Andy Goessling of Railroad Earth and Scott Law, this band has created a huge buzz in California and beyond. In January of 2008, the IZABELLA boys will release their second studio creation "In The West", and look to tour nationwide as the year progresses. The first release, "Dream When You Sleep", was recently picked up for distribution in Japan by Grey Dog's Records.

I'm gonna bring that boy home an' let him watch some MTV...woo!.....
Can't stop me now,...hear what I say!...
My feet..want to move..so,...get out my way!..
I'm gonna have my say, I'm goin to levitate today,
I'm gonna dance, dance, dance, ooh!..'til the break of day!
I said, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame.
shame on you,...if ya can't dance too.....
Don't stop the motion..if ya get the notion.
You can't stop the groo oove..'cause you..jus' won't mo ove.
I got my sunroof down,..got my diamon' in the back,
put on your shakin' wig, woman, if ya don't I ain't comin' back.
Shame, shame, shame, (yeah!)..shame on you,...if ya can't dance too...
I said, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame,
shame on you,...if ya can't dance too.....
If you don't wanna go, remember, I'll knock it, I'll stop my show..
My body needs action (yeah!)..ain't gonna blow!.
Yes, I'm goin' now,...now, I'm a dancing mad..
(If you really strain your eyes),
(sleep tight, it's gettin' up an' to the skies) yeah!

The lyrics to Izabella's "Shame Shame Shame" are joyful and celebratory, encouraging listeners to let loose and dance. The upbeat tempo is immediately apparent with the lyrics "The music is jumpin',...my feet are stampin',...let's get to it!" The singer then goes on to express their desire to bring a boy home to watch some MTV and show off their dance moves. The lyrics are repetitive, highlighting the importance of dancing and movement in the face of shame.
The chorus repeats the phrase "Shame on you, if ya can't dance too" with an increasing number of "shame"s each time. The refrain encourages listeners not to stop moving and to let the music take over. The sax solo further emphasizes the joy and energy of the song. The lyrics are a call to action, urging the listener to join in on the fun and not be ashamed of their dance skills.
