I hope that my brother had been able to secure bail, as it would have spared me the long journey to visit him in jail.

So I won't have to travel 6 hours to see him in jail
I desire a situation where I don't have to spend six hours traveling just to see my brother who is serving time in jail.

Wish that my grandmother wasn't sick
I yearn for my grandmother's health to improve and for her to be free from sickness and suffering.

Alternatively, I hope that we stumble upon a significant amount of money so that we can improve our financial situation.

When they started to take innocent lives and become snipers
It pains me to think that people turned against their fellow humans and resorted to violence, becoming threats from a distance, like snipers.
