Don't Think Twice It's All Right
J.C. Lodge Lyrics
It ain′t no use to sit and wonder why, babe
It don't matter, anyhow
And it ain′t no use to sit and wonder why, babe
If you don't know by now
When your rooster crows at the break of dawn
Look out your window and I'll be gone
You′re the reason I′m traveling on
Don't think twice, it′s all right. It ain't no use in turning on your light, babe
That light I never knowed
And it ain′t no use in turning on your light, babe
But I wish there was somethin′ you would do or say
To try and make me change my mind and stay
We never did too much talking anyway
So don't think twice, it's all right. It ain′t no use in calling out my name, gal
Like you never done before
It ain′t no use in calling out my name, gal
I can't hear you any more
I′m a-thinking and a-wond'rin′ walking down the road
I once loved a woman, a child I'm told
I give her my heart but she wanted my soul
Don′t think twice, it's all right. So long honey, babe
Where I'm bound, I can′t tell
Goodbye′s too good a word, babe
So I'll just say fare thee well
I ain′t saying you treated me unkind
You could have done better but I don't mind
You just kinda wasted my precious time
But don′t think twice, it's all right.

Thanks for your comments Ryan. Im not knocking Dylan at all. He is well respected especially by reggae musicians. Its just that my personal preference is melody and harmony so thats the reason why i favour this version of the song. Bobs ability as a songwriter though is not in question. He is one of the best.

.....Bobs version blows this out of the water. you dont think about the time period. you dont think about how what was going on at the time, the music before he wrote this song where he was in his life. He was a genius in his own right. and nobody cared more about what message their music sent to the world at the the time than Dylan

100 times better than bob dylans version of the song. Okay may be his lyrics were good but he was never that great at melodies. This for me is the way this song should be played and sung. Sung with emotion and feeling. Reggae versions of songs are invriably better than the originals

I'm not sure the backing riddim is quite right. its like, reggae beats can essentially turn any sad subject happy. it seems like this version can't make up its mind. is it happy? is it sad? it just kind of makes me mad.

I think that is what makes it so good. The end of love is sad but you still keep the happy moments. This captures the feeling of knowing its time to let go and move on. the sound of someone who has grown to move forward and the sadness\happiness of knowing its truly over and keeping the good times while letting go of the bad.
