For more than four decades, John Dill “J. D.” Jarvis has been a major figure in bluegrass gospel and country music, recording numerous albums and composing songs that have become standards in the field, such as “Take Your Shoes Off Moses" and “Six Hours on the Cross.”
A native of Clay County. Kentucky, Jarv is grew up in a mountainous area steeped in traditional music, and after spending time in the Civilian Conservation Corps and the U.S. Army—suffering serious combat wounds—he joined the flood of Appalachian migrants to the city. J. D. eventually settled in Hamilton, Ohio, and operated a paint contracting business.
After a self-confessed rowdy lifestyle in early adulthood, Jarvis converted and began devoting his surplus energy to sacred music. He sang in churches for years and began a recording career in around 1960. While he made many albums in the 1960s and 1970s, many of them on Rusty York’s Jewel label, those with the most widespread distribution appeared on Rural Rhythm, and he did a country-oriented sacred album for Heart Warming. In addition to the aforementioned standards, some of his other well-known songs include “My Lord Will Send a Moses,” “Life of Ransom.” and the patriotic “Thank God for Old Glory.”
Despite his numerous long-play albums, Jarvis remained a part-time performer, maintaining his business until turning it over to his son. In recent years, he has continued singing in the local area around his home in Hamilton. Two compact disc compilations of his best sides appeared in the 1990s.

Who can I trust for real
Who can I trust
Who can I trust for real
Who can I trust for real?
Who can I trust in a world full of masks
In my lane nigga foot on the gas
Still the same as I was in the past
Bad bitch she look back throw it back
Show out baby girl do your dance
We roll out ima roll up this gas
Exotic give you asthma attack
Main bitch she know I got her back
I swear these other hoes just be boring
Wanna dig in you someplace that’s foreign
Wanna watch our shit grow like a florist
People asking bout us we ignoring em
Swear the shit that we got is just different
By my Jordan year you should be Pippen
Be wit me while we run up these digits
Wanna
Elevate, Levitate, just escape with you
Grind till late, pour a drink, fornicate with you
But still I gotta ask, who can I trust in a world full of masks
Who can I trust in a world full of masks
Can’t look back if I left you in the past
Savage, baby don’t call me that
You said you would not get attached
Cannot make time for the feelings you catch
I’m on my grind I can’t sway off the path
these niggas is liars they Sway wit the cap
Too eloquent to speak on my behalf
Got me hella bent if you thought I would lapse
Even when shit hit the fan I’ll relax and make something shake wit the shit in my lap
You can’t be afraid that’s just gone hold you back
Moral compass gone lead me I promise you that
Mama raised her a man I can promise you that
My Niggas my fam I can promise you that
Gotta do what I can with the fam on my back
But everyday I gotta sit back and ask
Who can I trust in a world full of masks?
In my lane nigga foot on the gas
Still the same as I was in the past
Watched people change but I’m focused on cash
Bad bitch she look back throw it back
Show out babygirl do your dance
We roll out ima roll up this gas
Exotic give you asthma attack
Main bitch she know I got her back aye
Feel like these other hoes just be boring
Wanna dig in you someplace that’s foreign
Wanna watch our shit grow like a florist
Yeah
Swear the shit that we got is just different
By my Jordan Year you should be Pippen
Be wit my while we run up these digits, wanna
