History a story often told from the vantage of the master
The history we learn is often just the perspective of those in power.

The victor, the quote on quote winner
Those who win are lauded as heroes and their perspectives often become the accepted truth.

While the poor eating micro dinners, the rich eating caviar
There is a stark divide between the wealthy and the impoverished, seen in even the food they consume.

The underdog cavalier and the pop culture superstar
People from different walks of life can become successful and celebrated in their own right.

Reminisce to the 1st days I talked about this
Looking back on past discussions about important topics.

Convos in college I joked around with the scholars
Discussing and laughing about ideas with peers in an educational setting.

But now I’m reading bout these stories that are so explicit
Discovering the harsh realities and details of certain issues and topics.

Wrote this letter
Creating a piece of writing to express one's thoughts and feelings on a subject.

From my home oh so cleverly
Crafting one's message in a thoughtful and intelligent manner from home.

Flew from brick city to Beverly, with my wife I had to be
Traveling to a new place with a loved one for personal reasons.

Started to realize how we classify enemies
Acknowledging how people divide each other into categories of friend or foe.

Thinking I’ve had my fair share of frenemies
Having had experiences with people who pose as friends but are actually enemies or competitors.

Really don’t mean to impose, but I gotta juxtapose I suppose
Not wanting to offend, but feeling the need to point out contradictions and differences.

Tryna bring clarity inside of a world that knows
Attempting to enlighten people in a world that already possesses knowledge.

Language powerful, we stereotyping folk
The way we talk about and refer to others can create damaging and limiting stereotypes.

I write this piece bumping in stereo while thinking of these scenarios
Creating art while reflecting on real-life situations and issues.

Can we fly away from this reality
Wishing to escape the harshness and difficulties of the current state of the world.

Oh no
Expressing sadness or disappointment in realizing that escape is not possible.

But Can we remedy the pain that we feel, no more refills
Questioning whether or not there is a solution to the suffering and hardships people face.

You can remedy, God I’m giving you all that’s left of me
Having faith that a higher power can provide a solution or relief to struggles.

Been blessed to fly to many nations, Paris, Barcelona
Feeling grateful for the opportunity to travel to different places around the world.

Culture destinations, London, Morocco I gotta
Exploring different cultures in various locations around the globe.

See the Eiffel never did my eyes close
Remembering a specific experience while visiting a well-known landmark.

With my lady, photo shoot flicking straight from my iPhone, still thinking
Spending time with a loved one while documenting the experience through photos, but still reflecting on deeper thoughts and concerns.

Bout back home, while thinking we that grown
Thinking about one's origins and roots while acknowledging personal growth and independence.

To travel where I don’t speak local language
Exploring new places where one does not speak the native language, which can be both exciting and challenging.

Keeping our table manner sign my way to eat, signing off my social feeds
Maintaining one's composure and etiquette while in unfamiliar territory, and taking a break from social media while doing so.

Had to come to grips that I got some privilege
Realizing that one holds advantages or opportunities that not everyone has access to.

Still we deny its existence, who are we really kidding
Despite being aware of one's privilege, some may still deny or downplay the impact it has on their life.

Listen, some people worship constitution more than they do Jesus
Highlighting how people place more value on political ideals and documents than they do their faith and religious beliefs.

Enamored with genius can’t believe this
Feeling in awe of someone's intelligence or accomplishments.

The thing is if we talking foundation
Discussing the basis or core of certain issues or belief systems.

Some are wobbly probably cause your loyalty not for all human royalty
Certain ideas or systems may be fragile or unstable if they do not prioritize the well-being and dignity of all people.

People forgotten at the bottom, we think everything political
Acknowledging how certain individuals, groups, or issues may be overlooked or ignored in the political landscape.

Than we ridicule people call them minuscule, love that shown ain’t reciprocal
Dismissing or belittling people or groups that do not hold the same beliefs, values, or social status as oneself, and noticing a lack of genuine generosity or kindness in society.

I recall thinkin' bout my identity
Reflecting on and examining one's personal identity and how it relates to one's experiences and worldview.

The brevity of human life ain’t the death of me
Believing that the shortness of life should not dictate one's impact or potential for change.

Can’t defame me, not going postal but like Dr. King
Refusing to let others tarnish one's reputation or spirit, and using nonviolent resistance like Martin Luther King Jr.

I’m so Olly Olly oxen free, to the silent
Feeling liberated and unburdened, and speaking up for those who have been silenced or oppressed.

The boy is feeling quite ignited
Feeling motivated, impassioned, and energized.

I’m so fed up with this love unrequited
Experiencing frustration or exhaustion from unreciprocated affection, whether in relationships or societal issues.

We divided, got a love but I can’t divide it
Despite differences and rifts in society, still holding love and unity as important values.

They say just pick a side like we out here supersizing
Being pressured or expected to align with one extreme or the other, as if it is a simple or trivial decision.

You can remedy, God I’m giving you all that’s left of me
Placing trust and faith in a higher power to bring solutions and healing to difficult situations and experiences.

Fully surrendering oneself to a higher power and seeking guidance and support through faith.
