Far Too Close
J.Viewz Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

All you said when you came up to me,
"I only fall asleep when you're watching."
See me out the corner of your eye;
I look away, silent for a while, then I say:

On and on, I'm on my own;
I found my way to be;
On and on, you're far too close for me.
Say, "On and on you're all alone,
I found your way to be;
Hear me when your telephone rings."

All you said when you came up to me,
"I only fall asleep when you're watching."
See me out the corner of your eye;
Slip away, silent for a while, I say:

On and on, I'm on my own;
I found my way to be;
On and on, you're far too close for me.
Say, "On and on you're all alone,
I found your way to be;
Hear me when your telephone rings."

And when I come outside,
And you're letting out, you almost cry;
Sanity across your face:

"You like to feel the wind escaping,
for far too long;
I should be tired of loving this."

On and on, I'm on my own;
I found my way to be;
On and on, you're far too close for me.
Say, "On and on you're all alone,
I found your way to be;
Hear me when your telephone rings."

On and on, I'm on my own;
I found my way to be;
On and on, you're far too close for me.
Say, "On and on you're all alone,

I found your way to be;
Hear me when your telephone rings."

Overall Meaning

J.Viewz's song "Far Too Close" tells the story of a person who feels suffocated and overwhelmed by someone's intense and constant presence. The song starts with the singer recalling a conversation with this person who said that he/she only falls asleep when the singer is watching. This statement highlights the extent to which this person depends on the singer's attention and acknowledgment to feel at peace. When the singer notices that this person is constantly monitoring him/her, he/she tries to create distance by looking away and being silent for a while. But the person's presence only makes the singer feel more isolated and on his/her own, drawing the line between them.

Throughout the song, the singer repeats the phrase "On and on, I'm on my own, I found my way to be," emphasizing the importance of personal space and independence. The person's constant presence and attention make the singer feel trapped and far too close, leading to a sense of discomfort and unease. However, the person persists in his/her pursuit, asking the singer to "hear me when your telephone rings."

As the song progresses, the singer acknowledges the significance of the person's love and devotion but struggles to reciprocate due to the lack of space and freedom. The final stanza shows the person letting out and almost crying, showing the desperation and sadness that comes with feeling unreciprocated. The singer acknowledges the person's pain and confesses, "I should be tired of loving this," but remains firm in his/her stance, stating that he/she needs space and distance to feel true freedom.

See me out the corner of your eye;
Catch a glimpse of me from the periphery of your vision;

I look away, silent for a while, then I say:
I turn my gaze aside and pause for a moment before responding:

On and on, I'm on my own;
Continually, I am by myself;

I found my way to be;
I have made my own path;

On and on, you're far too close for me.
Despite this, you persist in being too near to me.

I don't understand the comparisons of you all in the comments. This is a genially composed piece in itself, the harmony and the melody is so beautiful in it, and so rare nowadays, that I look at it like a little gem among pebbles... On the other hand, the Pregboard Nerds remix is a masterpiece of a remix. Basically a recreation of a song, which gave an orgasmic retuning to the chorus pulsating between the hard electronic parts, and they fit together... Two different songs, both great at the very least.
