I grew up in Newton, MA, in the 70's. Local legendary radio station, WBCN, played J. Geils, all the time. J. Geils was playing on the school bus! The JGB's version of this song... originally from their 1977 album Monkey Island, which wound up being their last album for Atlantic Records, and was also the only album on which the band's name was shortened to simply "Geils"; it was also the band's first self-produced album. This live rendition, from their 1982 album Showtime, went to number 24 on the Hot 100 dated January 8, 1983. Showtime was the band's third live album and was also the last time lead singer Peter Wolf was involved with the JGB, since he left to pursue a solo career.

Ah, to have had music like this to listen to as a member of the Class of '83! I pity the high-schoolers today with all the mediocre shit they have to endure on their Spotify playlists. For every single listenable tune kids get to hear nowadays, back in my day there were at least 100 songs, most of 'em not just listenable but magnificent. Hell, even the so-so songs from the early/mid '80s were terrific compared to most new songs nowadays.

Only 2 hours of J Geils??? They must have cut the set short cause someone in the band was sick. The shows I have seen over the years in Washington DC the band usually played for close to 3 and a 1/2 hours. You couldn't get them off the stage. They would continue to play even after the house lights were brought back up and flickered. I think at one show the venue had to cut power to the stage. This is one of those bands that if you get a chance to see, GO !!! Its definately worth it.

Saw these guys at the Warehouse in N'awlins. It was a show to celebrate the joint 10th anniversary of both the band and the Warehouse. It was nucking futz. They were spraying the audience with champagne and had a giant birthday cake & were handing out slices to the audience -and then- FOOD FIGHT!! Cake and champagne were flying everywhere, the band was slipping in the slop, falling down and laughing their a**es off. Doze were da days my friend.

I'm just wondering: how many J Geils fans out there followed Peter Wolfs' solo career? His albums all have gems on them, yet he seems to be off the radar. Long Line, Sleepless, and Fools Parade are my faves, but Midnight Souvenirs has two great duets with female artists. Nothing But The Wheel, a country song re-imagined by Pete & with Mick Jagger & Kief doing backing vocals, is a winner. Keith said it would've fit right in place on Exile On Main Street.

Concert recorded at Pine Knob in Clarkston, Michigan (now known at DTE Energy music theatre). A great outdoor venue well designed for concerts with hills build for blankets on the grass and seats underneath a very large roof area.
