I give thanks to you
For holding our spirits high
I do thank you lord
For blessing my life each day
I give thanks to you
For always being there when all is said and done (Woo)
To thee, do we give thanks
Now hol' on, hol' on, hol' up
Has anybody seen Jermaine? (No)

Where's Jermaine Cole?
The lyrics to J. Cole's song Where's Jermaine speak to the importance of gratitude and appreciation for the people in our lives who lift our spirits and support us through the ups and downs. This sentiment is reflected in the opening lines of the song where J. Cole gives thanks for the precious friend who has held his spirits high and for the blessings in his life. There is a sense of humility and recognition of the role that other people have played in his success, which is a refreshing departure from the usual braggadocious tone of many hip hop songs.
The second half of the song takes a more somber turn as J. Cole questions the whereabouts of his alter ego Jermaine, who represents his struggles with self-doubt and the pressures of fame. This exploration of the darker side of success is a recurring theme in J. Cole's music, and it reflects the artist's introspective and socially aware approach to lyricism. The repeated refrain of "where's Jermaine Cole?" asks the listener to consider the toll that the pursuit of fame and fortune can take on an individual, and invites empathy and understanding for those who struggle with these issues.
