J. Monty Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We've all been given an assignment
Every single one of us
We've all been designed to occupy a place in the body
You think that we would embrace it
But oddly, we've replaced it with folly
So on the day we depart
We'll explain to a God
Who would hang on a cross
We were ashamed to exalt you in the face of the false
So at night we're awake
And the day we're exhausted
We've strayed from the promise
Relade through his prophets
While, Satan is scoffing,
Orchestrating and plotting
The sin in this world
The ladies, the often are stripped from their homes and exchanged for a profit
The millions of Christians
That are placed in a coffin
By the thousands of Muslims obeying muhammad
The babies, no fathers
The slain and the fallen,
The blood on our hands
The stain on our conscious.
It was your name that he called
In Isaiah when God said "When shall I send"
Your hand raised then you thought regret
Every name that I've lost
Fear, had placed me in bondage
Sin, is engraved in my posture
Confusion, in my brain
It won't stop. In doubt
Are you sure it's my name that you called?
See you can become
Everything that our father has called
You to be
In spite of yourself,
The way that you feel,
And the flaws that you see.
Your past is a mess and
The scars you receive make it her to believe
That the pain of your past will not serve as a wind
That we all can achieve
See, Jesus was hung
And he bled
And he died
So that we all could be free
But the things of this world
Try to strangle you
And make it harder to breathe
But the people in bondage are waiting
On you to acknowledge their need
And if Christ doesn't meet you half way, then what kind of God woulf he be?
So we fight for the truth
And deciple the youth
Who are biting the fruit.
We rebuilt the image of Christ and the church
The bride and the groom
And now we must go
As darkness approaches
We're losing the sun
Theres a world that will know him

But now we're just waiting
On YOU to become

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to J. Monty's song "Become" are a poignant reminder that each of us has been given a purpose or an assignment in this world. However, instead of embracing our purpose, we have replaced it with folly, and we have strayed from the promises of God. The song points out the various challenges that we face, such as the sin in the world, where people are stripped from their homes and sold for profit, and the millions of Christians who are laid to rest in coffins because of the thousands of Muslims obeying Muhammad. We are also reminded of our scars, our past, and the pain that we have endured but that we can overcome and achieve greatness if we focus on becoming everything our Father has called us to be.

The second verse acknowledges that we have all fallen short, and we carry the weight of our sins engrained in our posture. We are not sure if it is our name that God has called because of our doubts and confusion. However, the song encourages us to become everything that God has called us to be not because of who we are, how we feel, or the flaws we see, but because Jesus was hung, bled, and died so that we can be free. Therefore, we must disciple and fight for the truth, rebuild the image of Christ and the church, and become the light of the world as darkness approaches. We must wait no more but become the change that we want to see in the world.

Does anyone else hear how deep this is...? It breaks me, it motivates me. J. Monty is the only christian rapper that I have personally heard that isn't competing against anyone. He doesn't claim to be the best nor does he bash anyone else. He just wants the message out there. Such an amazing Christ-like characteristic. Will forever be my favorite rapper! God bless him 🙌🙌❤
