I am
J. Monty Lyrics

Take a look at me
It's a reality
That you will never know what's deep inside my heart
But you need to know
My life is not a show
The music plays, I can't control what's in my soul

J.A.E has some bad days but that's okay
I am only human, you 'gotta realise
Never 'gonna change a thing
No matter what they do or say
'Gonna live my life my way
Step by step and day by day

What you see is what you get (What you get)
No need to pretend (Yeah, yeah)
Proud to say it's who I am (That's who I am)
Can you see me when I smile?
When I'm feeling down
This is who I am

What you see is what you get
No need to pretend
Proud to say it's who I am (That's who I am)
Can you see me when I smile?
When I'm feeling down (You better know)
This is who I am

I won't compromise
But we need to realise
All the hopes and dreams that I've had all my life
I won't allow my fame
To blow up my brain
This is not a game so don't play with my name

J.A.E has some bad days but that's okay (That's okay)
I am only human, you 'gotta realise
Never 'gonna change a thing
No matter what they do or say
I'm 'gonna live my life my way
Step by step and day by day

What you see is what you get
No need to pretend
Proud to say it's, who I am (Is who I am)
Can you see me when I smile?
When I'm feeling down (Better know)
This is who I am

What you see is what you get
No need to pretend (No need to pretend)
Proud to say it's who I am (Who I am)
Can you see me when I smile?
When I'm feeling down (Better know)
This is who I am

It's who I am

It's who I am

(Better know) You better know

What you see is what you get (What you get)
No need to pretend
Proud to say it's who I am (Who I am)
Can you see me when I smile? (When I smile)
When I'm feeling down (Better know)
This is who I am

Yay, yay, yay, yeah
Yay, yay, yay, yay, yay, yeah

Yay, yay, yay, yeah
Yay, yay, yay, yay, yay, yeah

Yay, yay, yay, yeah
Yay, yay, yay, yay, yay, yeah

Yay, yay, yay, yeah
Yay, yay, yay, yay, yay, yeah

What you see is what you get
No need to pretend
Proud to say it's who I am
See me when I smile?
When I'm feeling down (Better know)
This is who I am

See is what you get
No need to pretend
Proud to say it's who I am
See me when I smile?

When I'm feeling down (Better know)
This is who I am

J. Monty,

I know you've been getting a lot of attention lately. I hope this message doesn't get lost in the influx, because I feel compelled to encourage you and to warn you from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you for choosing to point people toward the Master Artist with the creative spark He has breathed into you. It's beautifully evident that you are a true believer, and more than that, you are a true spiritual warrior for Christ. I could practically hear Satan's demons hissing during the second half of this song in particular- God's Word is powerful, and you channel it like an electrical current. It gives me such joy to witness a human being boldly collaborating with the Alpha and Omega~*~!

Tears of relief welled up in my eyes when I discovered your existence a few hours ago. I've been a follower of Jesus for a year and a half, and from the start minions of darkness have been hounding me at every step, trying to stunt my growth in Him. At first it didn't matter in the slightest, because the God who dwells in His people was burning bright in me-- He effortlessly fought my battles for me and kept me from stumbling, leaving me free to play in His creation like a child and to equip myself with His Word like a soldier.

After several months the Spirit revealed to me in no uncertain terms that I was allowing my heart to remain bound by an earthly love for a brood of vipers who willingly reject Jesus and embrace death, no matter how gently or aggressively I speak Life to them. I compromised my walk down the straight and narrow when I turned to clutch the false hope that if I tried hard enough to please the lost people I love- if I tried to convince them that even though I am a new creation I am still not so different from them- /maybe/ through me God could reach them.
All the while I was neglecting my relationship with the One who saves... I laid down my Sword and let it become dull. A week or so ago, through the very people I foolishly tried to save on my own messy terms and with my own tainted methods, evil pounced on me while I was disarmed and commenced to rip my reckless heart to itty bitty shreds.

I'm grateful for being broken in this way, despite the crushing pain- those deceitful, fake friends can no longer influence my life, and though I still grieve my lost chance to make more of an impact on their lives, our merciful God has used these events to bring me back to Him. He has proven His faithfulness despite my willful wandering, and has knitted my heart back together and granted me a period of rest.
His timing is so on point, too.. I say that as if it ever isn't, haha. As I write this, it is four days from the day we celebrate His first arrival in this physical world, and six days from my birthday. It'd be hard for my focus to drift far from Him right now, even if I wanted it to. :)

I don't mean to flatter or to ramble on needlessly, but I want you to understand how proud I am to be able to call someone like you my brother in Christ. During the darkest dredges of the past week, I cried out to God to show me how I'm supposed to reach "all the nations" if I can't even bleeping reach the people I lived with and loved every day for /years/.
In response He has sparked inspiration for some short comic strips, a full graphic novel, and a song or two... Discouraging spirits of doubt have been keeping my hand and my mouth still, as I found myself terribly out of practice. But after finding your art- your raw and relatable way of delivering Truth to a fallen world so in need of Light and Love- I know that staying silent in the face of Christ's calling is a far greater insult than putting forth my faulted best for the advancement of our Savior's Kingdom could ever be.

There are no coincidences, especially in the life of a Christian... and I couldn't resist the persistent nudge to write this to you with a clear conscience. So there you have it. I pray it reaches you. I will keep you in my prayers often, my brother. May the Redeemer bless you and your house, may all you do for Him prosper, and may every breath draw you closer to Him.

Love eternal,
Carissa

For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? (Jeremiah 17:9)

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. (1 John 4:1)

Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? (2 Corinthians 6:14)

Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm. (Proverbs 13:20)

Make no friendship with a man given to anger, nor go with a wrathful man, lest you learn his ways and entangle yourself in a snare. (Proverbs 22:24-25)

Do not be deceived: β€œBad company ruins good morals.” (1 Corinthians 15:33)

And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell. (Matthew 5:30)

But avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, dissensions, and quarrels about the law, for they are unprofitable and worthless. As for a person who stirs up division, after warning him once and then twice, have nothing more to do with him, knowing that such a person is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned. (Titus 3:9-11)

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; (Psalm 1:1-6)

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)

Through the Holy Spirit, Emmanuel, and God, you have received an anointing and an honor to bring those in from the world to receive knowledge through the vessel of your tongue and through your mind. May your wealth, health, and faith multiply πŸ”₯

J. Monty speaks all truth in his songs. It's so different than other Christian Rap. He is his own style. None like him. Since I discovered him, I listen to him everyday. Truth is what Christians need... it's what everyone needs to hear.

@WillyBeamin

I love how the song switches up on the verses and chorus from talking about himself "I am" to talking about Jesus "I Am"
