Here We Go Again
J. Peter Robinson Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Oh here we go again
Don't lead me on
If you don't plan to stay for long

I've grown tired of the casualties
The long phone calls at night
When there's no one in sight
The Mixed signals
When you say "I'm just a friend"
Just waiting to see how this one will end

Constant cycle I no longer want to be part of
Because aren't I worthy of intentionality?
Intentionality

And I see you and I wish I wish
That you could see
That we darling
Are you gonna need me?

What part of me is it that you're afraid of?
What part of me is it that you're afraid of?

What part of me is it that you're afraid of?
What part of me is it that you're afraid of?

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of J. Peter Robinson's song "Here We Go Again" speak about the frustration and exhaustion that comes with being in a cycle of short-lived, inconsistent relationships. The singer is tired of being led on and receiving mixed signals from their partner, who claims to be "just a friend" but still engages in long phone calls at night when there is no one around. The singer is tired of being part of this constant cycle and is looking for intentionality in their relationship. They want their partner to show that they are worth committing to and not just being led on for another fleeting moment.

The repeated question, "What part of me is it that you're afraid of?" speaks to the singer's insecurity and confusion about why their partner can't seem to fully commit to them. The use of the word "afraid" suggests that there might be some sort of fear or hesitance that is holding their partner back. The singer is left wondering what it is about them that their partner is hesitant to embrace.

Overall, the lyrics of "Here We Go Again" are an honest portrayal of the frustrations and insecurities that come with navigating modern relationships. It speaks to the desire for consistency and intentionality in a world that often seems to thrive on ambiguity and casualness.

Blind Fury is indeed an awesome movie! Rutger Hauer's performance in the film is captivating and memorable.
Uncle Nick and Billy, the end always gets me very emotionally.
The bond between Uncle Nick and Billy was portrayed in a heartfelt manner, leaving a lasting impact.
Wished they made a sequel.
Times have changed not practical to carry a sword in these times.
Also reflects an era when men served as admirable role models and family units were portrayed realistically. It's a nostalgic reminder of a time when values and relationships held a significant place in society.
