BIGGER
J4 Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

When I was small
Didn’t understand anything but love
All I knew was being innocent and young
Then I turned 13
I saw my face on that Facebook wall
Full of hate, it broke me down, but I read it all
But all the hurt - It made me stronger
And every word - Was like a fire
Burning me up, lighting me up
Lifting me higher
I wish I knew then that there’s a world outside those hallways
That doesn’t always tear you down for who you are
If I could do it again, go back to the start
I wouldn’t change a single scar
I’d just leave them on my skin
Cus they lead me to something
Bigger
It was hard to see
Til I moved away, found a clean slate
In Tennessee - where I could be
Anything I wanted
With a dream just getting started
All I needed, was a chance, to be me
Every late night - up for hours
With a passion, like a fire
Burning me up, lighting me up
Lifting me higher
I wish I knew then that there’s a world outside those hallways
That doesn’t always tear you down for who you are
If I could do it again, go back to the start
I wouldn’t change a single scar
I’d just leave them on my skin
Cus they lead me to something
Bigger
Now that all those - days are over
I’m getting wiser - getting older
I’m getting closer to who I’m meant to be
I wish I knew then that there’s a world outside those hallways
That doesn’t always tear you down for who you are
If I could do it again, go back to the start
I wouldn’t change a single scar
I’d just leave them on my skin
Cus they lead me to something
Yeah I’d just leave them on my skin

Cus I was meant for something

Overall Meaning

In J4's song Bigger, the artist reflects on their past experiences and how those experiences have shaped them into who they are today. As a child, J4 was innocent and naive, not fully understanding the harsh realities of the world. But as they grew older and entered their teenage years, J4 experienced cyberbullying on Facebook. This experience broke J4 down, but it also served as a turning point for them. J4 embraced the hurt and used it to become stronger. Every word of hate was like a fire that burned within them, fueling their passion and lifting them up higher.
