JD signed with EMI Music US Latin in November 2003 at the age of 15. Her debut album, Imperfecta/Imperfect, is a predominantly Spanish record which includes three English tracks, all penned by the young singer-songwriter. Not only does she write her own songs, but she plays a mean guitar and takes inspiration from Nirvana, Bob Marley and Enrique Bunbury. The debut was greeted with much fanfare by the media and critics (the Miami Herald declared it the best Latin album of the year of 2004, for instance), and it was indeed an impressive debut. Before the album was even recorded, she managed to grab the attention of the AOL. They created Impulsa, a program built around her, which is the Latin version of Breakers (the same program that helped launch Avril Lavigne and Michelle Branch). They also recorded AOL Sessions, where JD's cover of Outkasts' "Hey Ya" debuted top 10 on their General Market chart in front of artists such as Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz and the Beastie Boys.
In addition, she caught the eye of MTV US by grabbing a spot not only as an Advanced Warning artist in August 2004 but also on Discover & Download in February 2005. Natasha made the cover of Maxim en Espanol in October of 2005 at 17 years old and caused many waves by being the youngest girl to pose for the elite Mens magazine.
Most recently, she garnished three Latin Grammy nominations: Best New Artist, Best Rock Album and Best Rock Song for Lagrimas. All of this before the age of 18! With plans to record a follow up album in English, the future looks bright for this rising star.

Because she loves me so
And this I know for sure.
Uh, But does she really wanna
But can't stand to see me
Walk out the door.
Don't try to fight the feelin'
'Cause the thought alone is killing me right now..
For sticking two together
'Cause we don't know how...
UH!
Hey... ya.
Hey ya.
Hey... ya.
Hey ya.
You think you've got it
Oh, you think you've got it
But got it just don't get it
'Til there's nothing at all
We get together
Oh, we get together
But separate's always better when there's feelings involved
If what they say is "Nothing is forever"
Then what makes, then what makes, then what makes
Then what makes, what makes, what makes love the exception
So why you, why you
Why you, why you, why you are we so in denial
When we know we're not happy here...
Hey... ya.
Hey ya.
Hey... ya.
Hey ya.
Hey... ya.
Hey ya.
Hey... ya.
Hey ya.
My baby don't mess around
Because she loves me so
And this I know for sure.
The lyrics to JD Natasha's song "Hey Ya" describe a relationship that is both complicated and yet straightforward. The singer's partner (referred to as "baby") loves her and she knows it, but there's still some uncertainty on whether or not they truly want to be together. The lyrics suggest that the singer's partner may be trying to hold onto the relationship even though she's unhappy ("But does she really wanna / But can't stand to see me / Walk out the door"). The singer implores her partner to stop fighting their feelings and to accept that they may not be happy together. However, she also acknowledges the importance of her parents and their ability to stay together despite the challenges of a relationship ("thank god for mom and dad / For sticking two together / 'Cause we don't know how").
The chorus of the song includes the repeated phrase "Hey...ya," which likely serves as a form of release or catharsis for the singer. It's also possible that the repetition of this phrase represents the cyclical nature of relationships - the constant ups and downs and the feeling of being stuck in a loop. The lyrics also touch on the idea of love being an exception to the "nothing is forever" adage, posing the question of why we deny our unhappiness in relationships even when we know it's not making us happy.
