JFA was formed around March of 1981. Pendleton, then in the band The Deez and Cornelius, then in the band Jr. Chemists, knew each other from shows around Phoenix, Arizona and from skateboarding. They began playing together after a D.O.A. concert during the band's Hardcore 81 tour. Bam-Bam later joined after meeting Pendleton at an "Industrial Dance" in Phoenix, and bestowed the moniker on the band, which is a reference to his second-cousin's, John Hinckley, Jr., attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan.
The band's first show was opening for Black Flag at an Industrial Dance which was one of a series of early Phoenix punk shows. Their first song of the night was Pipetruck.
Placebo Records released their debut EP "Out Of School" in late 1981. The band toured the west extensively and played many local shows. Their first national tour was in the summer of 1983 following the release of their first album "Valley ot the Yakes".

Bouncer
JFA Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Thrashing the goonds and having a ball
Slamming in the living room dancing in the hall
In comes the bouncer adn kicks me in the balls
we don't want you
We don't need you
For what, why I didn't mean to hurt that guy
Don't push us around 'cause you don't dig our trip
We don't need your fucking shit
And we know Tony will take care of it
[Chorus]
Don't push us around 'cause you think you're boss
Don't try to kick out John Haas
Don't you know that rules are lost
And we don't wanna get tossed
The lyrics to JFA's song "Bouncer" describe a wild night of fun at the Knights of Pythia Hall, where the singer and their friends are thrashing and dancing until the bouncer shows up and kicks them out for causing trouble. The chorus is a defiant statement against authority figures, with the singer insisting that they don't need or want the bouncer's control over their behavior. The song seems to represent a feeling of rebellion against societal norms, with the singer breaking rules and rejecting authority in order to have a good time.
