Tell me
Where would i be
If you
Had the right to choose
Tell me
Where would i be
If you

If you

Tell me

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to JJ's song "Light" may seem simple at first glance, but they hold a deeper meaning. The song talks about the power dynamics in a relationship where one person has control over the other. The singer asks their partner where they would be if they had the right to choose, indicating that they feel trapped in the relationship and are not with their partner by choice. The repetition of the phrase "if you had the right to choose" emphasizes this sense of powerlessness and highlights the importance of having agency in one's own life. The song ultimately questions the idea of love being enough to sustain a relationship when there is a lack of mutual respect and equality.

One interesting fact about this song is that it was released as part of JJ's debut mixtape "Kills," which garnered attention and praise from music critics. Another interesting fact is that JJ is part of the hip-hop collective Pro Era, which includes other prominent rappers such as Joey Bada$$ and Capital STEEZ. "Light" showcases JJ's introspective and soulful style of rapping, which sets him apart from his peers.

Additionally, the lyrics to "Light" were written by JJ's close friend and Pro Era member, Capital STEEZ, who tragically took his own life in 2012. The song's poignant message and Capital STEEZ's untimely death have contributed to its impact on listeners.

@etcontato

@joaob9008

Verdade.
