Producer/songwriter Christian Berishaj was born in the greater Detroit area and quickly developed a fascination with music and performance. He started recording his own music at age 12 and by the time he was 18 he'd gone through various different bands and projects, including recording an album as Love Arcade on which he wrote and performed every sound. Love Arcade was eventually signed to Atlantic records, with a self-titled album on which Berishaj was the sole performer coming out in 2006. A touring band was assembled around the project but none of the members ever played on any recordings and the group broke up after three years. Following Love Arcade, Berishaj relocated to Los Angeles and worked briefly under the moniker Christian TV, licensing songs in various films and television and signing a deal with Universal Motown Records. The label folded and Berishaj again reconfigured, taking on the name JMSN and producing more R&B inspired music, taking a decided step away from the pop leanings of previous projects. He self-released his debut Priscilla in early 2012, earning high praise from press and his artistic contemporaries as well. He followed with the next year with the Pllaje EP and a lengthy tour. JMSN spent much of 2014 prepping his next full-length, The Blue Album. The Blue Album's release date was delayed but eventually saw release in late 2014. ~ Fred Thomas
My Way
JMSN Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
That we'll never understand
Eventually we begin to see
What's the point in making plans
Would I believe in may not be right
But that's just the way I live life
Most of the time refused to change
But through all the love and all the pain
I did things my way, my way
Ooooh ooh, my way
I've had a thousand dreams, of how I think it should be
But maybe that's just not Gods plan
Honestly, I said honestly, it's made me a stronger man
Would I believe in may not be right
But that's just the way I live life
Sometimes I get stressed about my life
Wondering why I even try
But even if everything's not right
I'm doing it my way
Workin' and workin' day and night
I ain't got the time to be polite
Cause you know that it's my human right
To do things my way
I said my way, my way
I said my way, my way
The lyrics of JMSN's song My Way explore the theme of individuality and self-determination. The opening line "There's a million things, a million things/That we'll never understand" suggests that life is complicated and unpredictable. The song goes on to say that although we may try to make plans and have dreams, sometimes these things may not work out, and we may end up doing things that may not be considered right by others. However, the repeated refrain "I did things my way" emphasizes the importance of making decisions that are true to oneself, even if they go against societal norms or expectations. This sentiment is reinforced in the line "it's my human right/To do things my way."
The lyrics also touch on the idea that mistakes and pain can ultimately make us stronger. The line "Honestly, I said honestly, it's made me a stronger man" suggests that the struggles the singer has experienced have helped them grow and develop as a person. The song acknowledges that life can be stressful and challenging, but encourages the listener to keep pushing forward and continue doing things their way.
Overall, the lyrics of My Way celebrate the importance of individuality and encourage listeners to stay true to themselves, even in the face of adversity.
