Why are all Dads who listen to Zappa the most fun, rad, and wholesome? There should be a study done on it!!
My best friend's Dad used to sing the last 2 lines of this song to us, and my Dad and I, ever the One Size Fits All fans, are always singing Sofa no.2 together. We had the whole thing down, phonetic....German(?)....and all when I was a kid. We'd put on a *show*: he'd be singing in the deep, faux opera voice, and I'd take whatever utensils were handy and pretend to play the xylophone/glockenspiel/whatever, and sing the little exclamations of the dude doing the high parts.

We get goofy about music in our house, because we live soooooo far out in the bush. The world is beginning to encroach now, but back then, it was just coastal rainforest: no TV, very few neighbors, tons of forest, 2 beaches, and a provincial park to ramble through. We watched VHS movies, had bonfires and work-parties, listened to music at insane volumes and goofed off.

We're similarly crazy about Mr.Bungle. My Mom.. not so much. Nobody can say "goddamnit... " without my Dad and I simultaneously yelling, "....I'm pissed off......I didn't get to play on it at aaaaaalllll ...ooooowwweee!" Then we'll beatbox the rest of the song until someone else, usually my Mom, is like, "GUYS! ENOUGH!"

My Mom is 9 yrs older than my Dad (and she seriously kicks ass in her own right. Plays PC games online with her friends all over the world, {since the internet was first available to civilians, she's been on there} and loves select songs by NIN, Ministry, The Melvins, etc.)
My Dad was 21 when I was born, and since I was a teenager, we've been more buddies than father/daughter.
I moved out really early, put them through hell at the thought of my constant looming death, then cleaned up. I came back home in my late 30s, for Covid, and it's actually been pretty rad. Besides the fact that nobody's having any loud sexy times unless the other roommate(s) is(are) taking off for the night/whatever.
I go up to my boyfriend's place, or to my friends', they go camping and take little trips away. So we have that all worked out.
Your parents can be the best roommates ever!

My dad use to play Frank Zappa all the time really loud when I was little, and he’d dance around with me and my sister it was such a wholesome time.

I first heard Frank Zappa as a young teen, and I got hooked then. He had a really great music vision and a great sense of humor.

I miss Frank, he was such a genius.

Death Rock Radio Tampa Florida

Still awesome all these years later 🍻
What a mind blowing album to hear when I was much younger.

I saw Frank two New Years Eves in a row at the Long Beach Arena...Frank was the man! He was a musical genius but still knew it was just entertainment. It's worth checking out all his stuff, so much to hear, all differant styles. I saw Zappa plays Zappa about a year ago, His son does a pretty good job of it even though there was only one Frank.

Gregory Ennis

Frank Zappa just a pure musical genius
